Sanctioned Cruelty: Reproductive Rights Violations as Torture
Location: | OSI-New York |
Event Date: | December 7, 2011 |
As part of the Campaign to Stop Torture in Health Care, the Center for Reproductive Rights and Open Society Foundations will host a special screening of the Center’s new short documentary, Sanctioned Cruelty: Reproductive Rights Violations as Torture.
Documenting experiences of women from Slovakia, Chile, Kenya, the Philippines, Peru, and the United States, the documentary examines the grave physical and psychological harms that result from torture or ill treatment in the provision of reproductive health services. The short film demonstrates how these reproductive rights violations constitute torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment.
We will be joined by Felice Gaer, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee against Torture.
Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to Kate Meyer at kmeyer@reprorights.org or 917-637-3659.
