Mark Beaumont and team rescued after boat capsizes in Atlantic
They were 27 days into their journey when their boat Sara G overturned at 11am yesterday, 520 miles from their destination.
The six rowers were attempting to break the world record to row across the Atlantic in 30 days.
One of the crew members, 29-year-old Mark Beaumont, had been blogging about the attempt for The Independent.
Fortunately, all members – Matt Craughwell, Ian Rowe, Aodhan Kelly, Simon Brown, Yaacov Mutnikas and Mark Beaumont – were rescued and are safe.
We wish our blogger and his crewmates well, and congratulate them on their tremendous efforts.
