AMMAN — The Department of Statistics (DoS) is working to obtain funding beyond its budget for this year to support preparations for the general population census in 2014.

DOS Director General Fathi Nsour said on Saturday that the census requires several technical preparations, adding that the general population and housing census will require around four years of work to complete.

The DoS has been preparing for the census, which will entail collecting and preparing various demographic and socio-economic data on all components of the population and housing units in the Kingdom, since last year.
