Congressman Kevin Brady asked Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner if he would step down as part of a passionate back and forth at a Congressional hearing Thursday.

Brady (R-District 8), said President Barack Obama's economic policies have not worked, and ran down a litany of issues related to jobs, the dollar's stability, investigations and others.

"Conservatives agree that, as point person, you've failed," Brady told Geithner Thursday. "Liberals are growing in that consensus as well. Poll after poll shows the public has lost confidence in this president's ability to handle the economy. For the sake of our jobs, will you step down from your post?"

Geithner's response: "I agree with almost nothing of what you said, and I think almost nothing of what you said presents a fair and accurate perception of where this economy is today."

The secretary went on to say it was the president's economy policies that saved the American economy from its position "falling off the cliff" due to action and inaction taken before the Obama administration.

The Brady-Geithner exchange, which lasted about six minutes, was part of the Congressional Joint Economic Committee meeting. To see the exchange from CNBC's coverage of the hearing as posted by Congressman Brady, click on the video below.

To Jon, You clearly missed my point. That being, whomever is in the opposition role act like petulant children. Rather than contributing to and working with the party in power, they throw their political 'tantrums' and resort what amounts to taking their ball home and not 'playing' anymore. Does not matter whether elected or appointed, Dem or Republican, the behaviors are the same. Mr. Brady has an opprotunity to break the cycle...will he?

Interesting that KBTX did not put my original post up. I guess it’s true they are only interested in promoting their own agenda. Anyhow, this is something everyone should do. Take a look at unemployment rates, the DOW over the past ten years, print yourself out a chart, then think about things like when Obama announced his run for presidency, when it became clear to the people that he would win and when he actually took office. The fact is, that what the liberal news and government tells you, does not match the numbers. Our government from congress to the president should be impeached it’s time to push the reset button.

Giethner couldn't be bothered to pay his taxes, he should have never been appointed in the first place. All, elected or appointed officials who do not pay their taxes or follow the same rules we have to, they are NOT special, and I don't care which side of the aisle they are on.
