Reframing U.S. Strategy in a Turbulent World: American Spring?

On January 11, Democracy and the New America Foundation hosted “Reframing U.S. Strategy in a Turbulent World: American Spring?,” a panel discussion about progressive approaches to U.S. foreign policy in the twenty-first century.

The event, held at the New America Foundation, featured four authors from our current issue: Rosa Brooks of the Georgetown Law Center; Bruce W. Jentleson of Duke University; Charles Kupchan, professor of international affairs at Georgetown University; and Tom Perriello, former U.S. representative from Virginia and CEO and President of the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Their essays were part of a symposium titled “America and the World,” the latest installment in our First Principles series.

Democracy Editor Michael Tomasky moderated the event, while New America Foundation Senior Fellow & Founder and The Atlantic’s Washington Editor-at-Large Steve Clemons offered opening remarks and conducted a post-discussion audience Q&A.;
