Kirk Cameron and same-sex marriage: The Seaver family weighs in

Kirk Cameron appeared on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” last week, where he was asked to share his views on same-sex marriage — he doesn’t “support the idea” — and homosexuality: “It’s unnatural, it’s detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

Cameron’s comments came as no surprise to anyone familiar with the actor turned evangelist and filmmaker’s conservative religious and political views. Still, GLAAD condemned the comments, while Piers Morgan defended Cameron’s right to express his opinion.

Now, most importantly, members of the Seaver family— Cameron’s fictional television family—have weighed in.

The ‘National Lampoon’s Animal House’ musical: What songs should be included in the score?

First came the news that a musical based on the movie “Diner” would be made, with music by Sheryl Crow. Now it appears that the musical version of “National Lampoon’s Animal House” is happening, with a score by the Barenaked Ladies.

That sounds like a joke. But per this item from the New York Times, it is not.

Universal Pictures Stage Production announced today that it is developing a stage production based on the exploits of those randy Delta Tau Chi boys, with Casey Nicholaw — a Tony Award winner for his work on “The Book of Mormon” — slated to direct. In order to maximize the potential for John Belushi to roll over in his grave, the news was disseminated on the 30th anniversary of the death of the comic legend/food fight instigator.

Watch Will Smith and Josh Brolin in the new ‘Men in Black 3’ trailer (Video)

Here’s the second trailer for “Men in Black 3,” a film about aliens — and now time travel! — from a franchise that began 15 years ago.

Picking up where the teaser trailer left off, we see more of Will Smith/Agent J’s trip back to 1969, where he meets the younger version of Agent K. There’s also an extended look at Josh Brolin’s rather impressive impression of Tommy Lee Jones, who once again plays K in the present.

An undisclosed number of Michael Jackson songs, purchased by Sony as part of a multi-million dollar deal, were stolen last year.

The Sunday Times reported (original link behind paywall) that 50,000 music files, including Jackson’s entire back catalog and some unreleased tracks, were allegedly compromised by hackers last spring. The breach was discovered shortly after April 2011, according to the paper, when Sony’s PlayStation Network was hacked and personal information from millions of users was taken.

Sony confirmed to the BBC that Jackson tracks had been stolen, but declined to say how many.

‘The Lorax’ made $70 million over the weekend. This is cause for Seussian alarm.

Just look at the Lorax. Even he appears skeptical about additional Dr. Seuss adaptations. Then again, he always appears kind of skeptical. (Universal Pictures - AP)

“The Lorax,” the movie adaptation of the Dr. Seuss story that taught the “Free to Be You and Me” generation about environmentalism, raked in $70.7 million over the weekend. That made it the No. 1 movie at the box office and the film currently boasting the strongest debut of 2012.

Naturally, this is cause for alarm.

Look, I’ll admit that I haven’t seen “The Lorax” yet. The reviews — including the one from the Post’s Michael O’Sullivan — have not been raves, but they haven’t been terrible across the board, either.

Still, I am concerned that the success of the film will only lead to something that makes my heart ache a little: infinitely more adaptations of the beloved, smart and whimsical stories from perhaps the most revered children’s writer to ever walk the Earth.

My name is Jen Chaney. I certainly don’t speak for the trees. But I might speak for some who don’t want any more Dr. Seuss movies.
