Light Infantry and Support Armament

7.62 mm MAG Light Machine Gun

The FN MAG light machine gun is an automatic weapon used by infantry units. It is intended to destroy the adversary live force and its non-armoured resources. More variants of the MAG light machine gun are being produced. It can be used as a machine gun (mounting device), in combat vehicle turrets in support of the main weapon, or for direct defence of vehicles. If no mounting device is used, the weapon is considered as a light machine gun and is used from a bipod.
The FN MAG light machine gun is an air-cooled, gas-operated and belt-fed automatic weapon. It can fire by bursts only.

It was developed in the 1960s by the company FN (Fabrique Nationale Herstal, Belgium). So far over 100,000 pieces have been made. It is used in over 70 countries: USA, Canada, Belgium, Great Britain, etc.
The FN MAG is a well-established weapon, characterized by extreme reliability, robustness, versatile usage and fire power.

Weapons used by the Slovenian Armed Forces are fitted with an optical sighting mechanism produced by a Canadian manufacturer Elcan.
