Inside Afghan heroin trade
Drug traffickers tell Al Jazeera they have been driven into heroin trade by desperation and lack of alternatives.

Afghanistan is responsible for a significant amount of the world's heroin supply.

Production and prices of the drug are rising, despite a 10-year effort by foreign governments to eradicate poppy cultivation.

Al Jazeera has been given exclusive access to a group of smugglers as they prepared to cross the border into Iran with a large delivery of heroin.

Our correspondent Bernard Smith reports from Kabul.
