The Creed of Lambda Chi Alpha

We believe in Lambda Chi Alpha, and its traditions, principles, and ideals. The crescent is our symbol — pure, high, and ever growing; and the cross is our guide — denoting service, sacrifice, and even suffering and humiliation before the world, bravely endured if need be, in following that ideal.

May we have faith in Lambda Chi Alpha and passion for its welfare. May we have hope for the future of Lambda Chi Alpha and strength to fight for its teachings. May we have pure hearts, that we may approach the ideal of perfect brotherly love.

Who Are We?

As a college student at Boston University, Warren A. Cole (Boston 1912) founded Lambda Chi Alpha on November 2, 1909, with the expressed objective purpose of bringing about the association of college students of good moral character in the various collegiate institutions within the United States and Canada; to foster a high moral and spiritual standard of life based on Christian ideals; to promote honorable friendship; to cultivate intellectual excellence; to secure for members the greatest advantages in college life; to establish brotherly love, mutual aid, close personal connection between alumni, undergraduates and colleges; and, to bind them together for mutual pleasure and interest in college, as well as after life by testing each with courage, self-control, obedience, democracy, and courtesy toward all with whom they may come in contact.

Today, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is one of the largest men's general fraternities in North America with more than 258,000 initiated members, with more than 200 active subsidiaries (called chapters) at colleges and universities. It was the first fraternity to eliminate pledging in the early 1970s, and it remains a leader in the fight against hazing, alcohol abuse, drugs, and other challenges facing today's college student.

Lambda Chi Alpha serves as a co-curricular experience to complement higher education by providing young men with opportunities for academic achievement, leadership development, and lifelong friendships.

Chapter History

The Chapter of Delta-Eta Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha was

colonized in 1991 at the University of Western Ontario.  What started out as only a few guys soon grew into a strong campus organization.  After receiving its charter on November 6, 1993, the chapter grew to a peak membership of 70 men in 1997.  Since this time, it has remained one of the strongest fraternities on campus, as proven by the fact it's won the last two Gold Cups (best fraternity on campus) awarded by the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC). We are also recognized as one of the best chapters internationally, winning the prestigious Grand High Alpha award in 1999 and 2002. This award is given out every 3 years recognizing chapters that have maintained superior operations and fraternal spirit.

Over 300 men have joined Lambda Chi Alpha in its short history. Internationally, the fraternity is over 200 chapters strong and one of the largest brotherhoods in the world, sporting international politicians, CEOs of major companies, and multiple pro athletes.  We hold the largest Greek philanthropy event with the North American Food Drive raising over 3 million pounds of food a year for the world's less fortunate.  Lambda Chi was innovative in the aim to make fraternities non-hazing, a standard we adhere to today. As a Rush, Associate Member, Active Member or Alumni, you will never be subject to, or take part in, any hazing or degrading activity that would separate your status as a member of our fraternity.

The fraternity continues to grow in creating better men from undergraduates attending the University of Western Ontario  We continue to break down stereotypes by displaying high on-campus achievements, helping the community, all while maintaining a social life unmatched by other university experiences.  Come out and see for yourself.

True Brother Initiative

The True Brother Initiative is a comprehensive concept of Associate Member, Brother, and Alumni Development rolled out by Lambda Chi Alpha General Fraternity in 2007. The Initiative explicitly and publicly states the seven core values of Lambda Chi Alpha:

Loyalty
Duty
Respect
Service and Stewardship
Honor
Integrity
Personal Courage

The True Brother journey is designed to support the successful development of young men, understanding the significant developmental tasks of this period of life, maximizing the positive influence of peers and mentors, and moving our brothers towards an increased capacity for self-reflection and self-awareness, empathy, altruism, and intimacy.
This program sets up goals of leadership, stewardship, learning and service, and explicates a range of core values associated with being a true brother, which when pursued, leads toward a better tomorrow for Lambda Chi Alpha.
