My grandfather and 11 other villagers were amongst those murdered by the paksitanis. I thank the Almighty that we are free of thier tyranny and oppression, just look at the chaos pakistan is in these days. We are indeed better off without them. However the country has a long way to go with respect to many things as well as genuine rights for women for example I found it very shocking that people sell thier own daughters off to brothels, ruining thier lives coz parents consider them a burden.
How is any significant level of gender bias present in the west? The genders are different and thus face different issues, but on balance I'd say both have a relatively equal ratio of benefits to hardships. In fact, I think women have it slightly better than men given cultural and socio political practice.
That's a completely different issue of course in the third world.
Why would independence day for any Bangladesh man or women be bitter-sweet? Pakistani soldiers slaughtered approximately 2 million civilians during the fight for independence? Would some women prefer to be under Pakistani than over self rule? Do some women really think that they would get any rights as a Bengali women in Pakistan? I'm sorry to disappoint but under Pakistani rule it would be a lot worse. The Bengali government is trying to help but it is a cultural thing that they deal with

@arafat464 Isn't the cultural stigmatisation of females prevalent everywhere, we still have it in australia.
