World Food Program hails Saudi Arabia’s support

A spokesperson for the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has expressed the organization’s gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its generosity and partnership. In a statement marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the WFP, the spokesperson reported that the Kingdom is the fifth largest donor supporting the WFP’s activities, adding that the Kingdom contributed $54 million to the relief organization’s budget in 2011.Meanwhile, Director General of the U.N. Office in Geneva Qasim-Jomart Toqayev opened a photo gallery today reflecting five decades of partnership between Saudi Arabia and the WFP. In a statement, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the U.N. Office in Geneva, Dr. Abdulwahab Attar, said the photo gallery is evidence of the appreciation shown by the international community for the humanitarian role played by the Kingdom throughout the world.
