Officials in Yemen's northern province of Saada say at least 15,000 people have been killed since fighting between a group of Shia Houthi fighters and the government began in 2004.

Thousands of buildings have been destroyed, and now the province wants to begin financial reconstruction and rehabilitation projects.

Al Jazeera’s Hashem Ahelbarra reports from Saada.

Syrian soldiers are shelling the central city of Homs, bombing houses and a temporary medical clinic, witnesses and activists say.

They say the government is attacking opposition targets across the country, but the military is concentrating its attacks on Homs, to try and break the back of the opposition.

Al Jazeera's Zein Basravi wraps up the developments.

Syria's military has withdrawn from residential areas and is on the outskirts of the country's cities, but gunfire continues and snipers are still a threat, according to the secretary-general of the Arab League.

Marwan Bishara, Al Jazeera English's senior political analyst speaks about the conflicting reports coming from the various Arab League monitors.

A group calling itself "Egyptians Without Borders" is distributing leaflets for a protest against Al Jazeera later this week:

"Wake up oh Egyptians before its too late, Egypt will be divided unless we wake up," the pamphlet, obtained by

"What is happening now in Egypt is a plot by Israel, America and global masonry, and those implamenting this plot are their allies in the region: The emir of Qatar son of zionism and his proxies in Cairo, like Al Jazeera and Al Jazeera Mubasher."

Then it goes on to argue Al Jazeera is trying to incite violence and cause division amongs Egyptians. Mahmoud Sa'd (the former head of Egyptian TV), Alaa Aswany (a famous author) and Mohammed ElBaradi are part of this plot, according to the leaflet's author.

And it ends by "calling on Egyptians to take part in a protest outside the Al Jazeera offices on Friday to take the channel off air."

Signalling the political leanings of those organising the event, it reads "we tell SCAF don't leave/abandon this country to demons of the night".

Will Pyongyang stick with six-party talks?

The death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il could complicate nuclear disarmament talks with the United States and its key Asian allies, as an untested and largely unknown heir takes charge of one of the world's most-feared atomic renegade states.

The immediate question for Washington, and close ally Seoul, is whether Kim's isolated state can withstand a power transition to his youngest son Kim Jong-un, named by state news agency KCNA as the "Great Successor" to his father. click here for more
