Free Movies at Atlantic Station

Wednesday May 2, 2012

Movies in the Park, currently Atlanta's top outdoor movie event (still no word on Screen on the Green 2012), is set to kick off this week at Atlantic Station.

Every Thursday evening, head to Central Park at Atlantic Station for a fun, free night of films. Movies start at sundown, but arrive a bit early and  you can grab a bite at one of the many restaurants in the area (like the recently opened Yard House).

Here is the 2012 Movies in Central Park schedule:

  • May 3 - Moneyball
  • May 10 - Singing in the Rain
  • May 17 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
  • May 24 - Men in Black
  • May 31 - Dirty Dancing
  • June 7 - The Muppets
  • June 14 - The Help
  • June 21 - The Lincoln Lawyer
  • June 28 - Spiderman
  • July 5 - Captain America
  • July 12 - Grease
  • July 19 - Forest Gump
  • July 26 - Clueless
  • August 2 - Notebook
  • August 9 - Ferris Bueller
  • August 16 - The Blind Side
  • August 23 - Hugo

I think it's a nice mix of classics and newer flicks, don't you?

Unique Attractions and Restaurants in Atlanta

Monday April 30, 2012

The Vortex

I've been thinking a lot lately about where I'd take visitors in Atlanta - about what makes our city unique. There are lots of well-known attractions that I love to recommend. This includes places like the Georgia Aquarium, Braves games, and Piedmont Park.

But how about those other places? The places the locals actually love to go?

I started a shortlist (I'm sure it will grow) of unique Atlanta attractions that are a bit off the beaten path.

Of course, for the food lovers, there are so many great spots in Atlanta that are unique to our city. Why not give visitors a slice of Atlanta at one of our local coffee shops. Or, if you can stomach it, how fun would it be to try a bunch of different burgers and rate your faves?

Have you ever taken visitors to a one-of-a-kind Atlanta destination?

Upcoming Food Events

Wednesday April 25, 2012

There are a few fun food events coming up over the next few weeks... see if one of these hits the spot!

Buckhead Wine Festival
The first annual Buckhead Wine Festival happens this Saturday. It will be an afternoon of wine tastings, tasty treats from local vendors, music and more. Some of your favorite food trucks will be on the scene, plus there will be seminars from local chefs and Georgia winery experts.

Atlanta Food & Wine Festival
You know this one - it's quickly become one of Atlanta's premiere food events. It's right around the corner, so grab your tickets! Seminars, tasting tents, dinner around town - the works!

Strawberry Fields at Rosebud
In honor of strawberry season in Georgia (and the Beatles), Rosebud (located in Virginia Highland) will feature three nights of a la carte offerings showcasing strawberries. May 1 - May 3, enjoy dishes featuring Georgia's-own Woodland Gardens and D&A Farm. Guests can choose from specials such as Ahi Tuna Tartare (jalapeno and fennel pickled strawberries, sesame oil, spring onion and cilantro) and Strawberry BBQ White Oak Pastures Chicken (smoked sweet potato puree, local kale and sorghum-poppyseed slaw).

LEGOs for Grown Ups at LEGOLAND

Wednesday April 25, 2012

One of Atlanta's newest attractions, LEOGLAND Discovery Center, is launching a monthly adult night so that grown ups can have their fun without the little ones around. Beginning May 10, and then continuing on the second Thursday of each month, it's kid-free fun. In fact, it is the only time adults without children are allowed to visit LEGOLAND.

Adult night will take place from 7 - 9 p.m., and tickets can be purchased at the door for $19. Guests will have access to the LEGO Factory Tour, MINILAND, Kingdom Quest laser ride, Merlin's Apprentice and the 4D Cinema in addition to the café and LEGO shop. LEGOLAND Discovery Center Model Builders will also lead building challenges throughout the evening.
