Monday April 30, 2012

KidsA very special lady in your life has a big day coming up. Mother's Day. Whether you're planning for your mother, wife, grandmother, aunt or favorite friend, Mother's Day is the time where families everywhere stop to salute the ladies in their lives that provide guidance, support and love.

Don't let the holiday creep up on you. I have passed many an adult child standing in a random aisle of a convenience store trying to patch together a gift basket of hodge-podge auto supplies.

There are several fun and thoughtful events going on in Columbus and local restaurants that have special days planned for mothers. Check out my Mother's Day round-up that includes popular restaurants and reservations for brunch invitations. Also, be sure not to look past moms-to-be, they count too!

Asian Festival Things to Do

Monday April 30, 2012

Asian festival photoThe Asian Festival, held this year on May 26th and 27th is an annual event everyone I know enjoys. There is so much to see and do that it is possible to spend two whole days at the event and still miss something. If you have never gone or wonder how to navigate the hundreds of activities, exhibitions and events, I've got a top 5 list of things to do while at the Festival.

The festival is one of those Columbus events where you can really see the diversity of the city and it also signals the beginning of the spring/summer festival season. Grab your sunscreen and appetite, this event is going to be a good one!

Splashy Places to Visit in Columbus

Monday April 30, 2012

Beating the heat is a hallmark to summer and while we're still dating Spring I suspect I'm not the only one looking to those summer months with one eye on activities and the other on keeping cool. Just in case I'm not the only one obscenely flirting with summer, here are three links you're going to want to bookmark:

Columbus Area Waterparks

Columbus Area Splashparks

CAPA Summer Film Series

Central Ohio boasts several waterparks and splashparks. There's no reason not to stay cool when the heat (and notorious Ohio humidity) hits. The CAPA film festival is just plain fun. This year is its 42nd and there are classic films for every genre and even Saturday morning cartoons. I have to say I'm especially looking forward to Hello Dolly and Pretty in Pink on the big screen. Don't forget the film series takes place in the historical Ohio Theatre. Tickets are cheap and it's a load of fun. Plan ahead and put going on your MUST list.
