Originally billed as the Matala "Reunion" Festival, the first event in 2011 was so popular that it's now back for a reunion of its very own.
From June 2-4th, Matala will again embrace its hippie past with three days of concerts, exhibitions, and fun in the south coast town on Crete.
The previous festival drew tens of thousands of participants, far outstripping the capacity of Matala's many small hotels and other accommodations, so book early if you're going. Other local accommodation options include Kalambaki, Kamilari, Pitsidia and Tymbaki, though total room numbers are still limited. The tourist-friendly town of Agia Galini across Mesara Bay, about a thirty-minute drive away, is also worth checking for spare rooms.

We're used to thinking of Greece as a land of sea and sun - but Greece's nightlife is just as memorable. Take a quick look at the "dark" side of Greece.

No matter where the modern Olympic Games are held, Greece is still intimately involved with the proceedings. This year, as usual, the Olympic Torch will be lit at Olympia, Greece before being carried throughout Greece in the
Olympic Torch Relay 2012. But as for participating fully in the Games, athletes are making do with limited budgets, fewer team members, and lots of wondering about the future of Olympic sports in Greece.

In a move that probably does not bode well for the more optimistic predictions on the number of tourists visiting Greece this season,
Olympic Air has discounted prices on many flights for the peak summer tourist months of July and August. You can book starting tomorrow, April 24th, to receive these values. The sale ends May 2nd, 2012
You may note that "public service obligation" routes are excluded from the discount - those are already-subsidized flights to remote locations in the Greek islands, which wouldn't have air service otherwise. This won't affect flights to the major tourist destinations, but if your itinerary is taking you off the beaten path, you may find that the discounts are not in effect for the route you need to reach that little island.
