With all the wide open spaces and stunning scenery it is no wonder that golf is a very popular game in New Zealand. There are courses throughout the country and with the cost being relatively low, it is something enjoyed by thousands of people. A number of courses are rated amongst the best in the world and have been the venue for international tournaments at various times.
Most golf clubs welcome casual visitors and with the payment of a "green fee" you can enjoy a round. It's a great way to enjoy the scenery of New Zealand as there are courses in some fairly dramatic locations.

The Far North Regional Museum in Kaitaia provides a fascinating insight into the history and development of what is one of New Zealand's most remote areas. It contains displays and exhibits from prehistoric times, through Maori occupation of the area and into the twentieth century when felling of the kauri forests and subsequent development of the land for farming was at its height.
The museum is part of the new Te Ahu Community Center at the southern end of Kaitaia's main street. This impressive building also houses the library (free internet access), theater, cinema and cafe.

April 25 is a significant day in New Zealand each year. Known as Anzac Day, it is a day of remembrance of all the New Zealand men and women who have died in wars in service of their country. The day is also commemorated in Australia at the same time.
Dawn services are held throughout the country, attended by many different service organizations, including the armed services and the police. Paper poppies are also worn by many New Zealanders as a sign of respect and remembrance.
In addition, Anzac Day is a public holiday in New Zealand and shops are not permitted to open before 1pm.

In Katikati in the Bay of Plenty there is a holiday park a little bit different to any other in New Zealand - it's clothes free. The Katikati Naturist Park has some of the best facilities of any holiday park in the country, with a large swimming pool, two spa pools (jacuzzis), sauna and a number of sports, including petanque and mini golf.
While the thought of being naked might sound odd to some, there is a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere at the park.
There is a range of accommodations from camp and caravan sites to a two-bedroom motel unit, all at very reasonable prices. If you're looking for somewhere to stay between Auckland and Tauranga this place is pretty unbeatable. And you'll soon forget that you've shed your clothes.
