Authorities in Massachusetts were on the lookout Tuesday night for a man suspected in a triple shooting in Florida who said he was planning to travel to Framingham to harm a corporate executive at Cumberland Farms, which is his former employer, officials said. David Procopio, a spokesman for the Massachusetts State Police, said the suspect, Kevin Satterfield, 55, reportedly said he planned to travel to the Cumberland Farms corporate headquarters in Framingham to harm an executive.

The 25-year-old man who was shot to death Friday evening on Hyde Park Avenue in Jamaica Plain has been identified, police said today. Mariano Malave, of Boston, was found around 6:30 p.m. inside 132 Hyde Park Ave., which is a short distance from the MBTA’s Forest Hills station. Malave was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second Franklin teen allegedly involved in a videotaped assault at Franklin High School last week was arraigned today in Wrentham District Court and ordered held on $1,000 bail. Jeremiah Ramirez, 18, who is accused of recording the attack, pleaded not guilty to being an accessory before the fact, wiretap violation, aggravated assault, disturbing a school/assembly, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace, the Norfolk district attorney’s office said.

The two women whose bodies were found early today behind the Lynnhurst Elementary School in Saugus were victims of foul play, Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said. The bodies were found around 6:45 a.m. on the school grounds, which triggered the closure of the school and a major response by Saugus and State Police, who are now treating the case as a double homicide and the elementary school property as a crime scene. One of the victims was identified this afternoon as a 54-year-old woman from neighboring Lynn.

A fire in an abandoned 105,000-square-foot Seekonk building that ignited early this morning continued into the afternoon, officials said. The building is located at 36 Maple St., said state fire marshal’s spokeswoman Jennifer Mieth. Theodora Gabriel, assessor for the town, said she inspected the building in 2009 and found it to be completely empty. That year the roof and part of the building collapsed, she said. The building served many uses over the years, Gabriel said.

The Massachusetts State Lottery says that it's on track to set a profit record. Treasurer Steven Grossman, who chairs the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission, said today that the lottery’s projected profit for 2012 is $947 million. That's because of strong sales for the first 10 months of the fiscal year, which ends on June 30. Lottery officials say that those projections are usually conservative. And it's a good bet that the lottery will end up breaking the past record of $951 million in profit, which was set in 2006.

Springfield police today arrested a man after he allegedly attacked a red-tailed hawk on a sidewalk on Pearl Street in the western Massachusetts city. At about 7 a.m., Detectives Robert Bohl and Mike Gorggin were returning to the police station in an unmarked cruiser when they spotted the hawk eating a pigeon on the sidewalk near Federal Street. “All of a sudden, a man came up on the sidewalk and struck the hawk by throwing a large log at it,” police said in a statement.

A 29-year-old Lynn man has been sentenced to 9 to 12 years in state prison for inflicting permanent brain and vision damage on his two-month-old daughter. José Aquino was sentenced today in Salem Superior Court by Judge Howard J Whitehead. Aquino was convicted Monday following a six-day trial of assault and battery on a child causing substantial bodily injury. The jury had deliberated for three hours before returning its verdict. Aquino violently shook the baby on July 28, 2009, causing severe bleeding on her brain and other injuries, prosecutors said.

A Mission Hill woman was convicted Monday in Suffolk Superior Court of stabbing her neighbor during a fight in 2010 over a parking space. The archdiocese of Boston says it has determined that a child sex abuse allegation against a Roslindale priest was unsubstantiated. The archdiocese said today in a statement that the allegation was made against the Rev. John M. Mendicoa of Sacred Heart Parish in August. Mendicoa was accused of actions in the 1980s.
