The NBA has not yet issued a ruling on whether or not Rajon Rondo will be suspended, but league commissioner David Stern weighed in on the situation this morning on ESPN Radio.

Stern told host Colin Cowherd that Rondo "obviously bumped" official Marc Davis in the final minute of last night's game with the Hawks. NBA rules state that a player who makes intentional contact with an official merits a one-game suspension.

“I don’t want to pre-judge on what the recommendation is going to be,” Stern said. “But as a fan, he obviously bumped him. And you know what happens with respect to that. We have a hard and fast rule. Unless somebody trips you and sends you into him, nobody touches a referee. That’s the proposition.”

Stern does not directly hand out suspensions; NBA executive vice-president/basketball operations Stu Jackson does. A ruling is expected on Rondo sometime today.
