Frequently Asked Questions

What is a digital subscription? What do I get when I subscribe? To get unlimited access to IHT apps, you’ll now need a subscription. When you subscribe to the IHT Smartphone or All Digital Access packages you’ll also get unlimited access to the NYTimes.com Web site and mobile site including 100 Archive articles every four weeks. IHT digital subscriptions do not include e-reader editions or any New York Times-branded smartphone or tablet apps.

What is the difference between International Herald Tribune and New York Times apps? The International Herald Tribune is the global edition of The New York Times and combines the extensive resources of its own correspondents with those of The Times to give its internationally engaged readers a distinctive global perspective on geopolitics, business, sports, culture and more. The IHT apps for smartphones and the iPad are refreshed for Europe and Asia mornings from the IHT news hubs in Hong Kong, Paris and New York and include the latest news from global.nytimes.com.

Can I get apps from both the IHT and NYT in one package? At this time, it is not possible to purchase one single digital subscription that includes access to both IHT and NYT apps. If you wish, for example, to buy both the IHT app for iPad and the NYTimes app for iPad, you would need to buy two separate subscriptions. However, IHT Smartphone and All Digital Access packages do include full access to NYTimes.com, as does the IHT home delivery subscription.

International Herald Tribune Users

I get home delivery of the IHT newspaper. Do I get free access?Yes. Paid home delivery subscribers to the International Herald Tribune who purchase at least five days per week get a free IHT All Digital Access subscription, which includes full access to the IHT apps for iPhone, Android and iPad, and IHT Reader, plus full access to NYTimes.com on any device.

In some countries, home delivery of the newspaper is provided by a local partner or franchise, rather than by the International Herald Tribune directly. In most cases, customers in these countries will also be able to obtain free access to the IHT All Digital Access package. Please check with your local customer service office for more information.

What is the cancellation and refund policy? You can cancel your IHT digital subscription at any time. When you cancel, we will stop charging your account the following billing cycle. Each billing cycle is four weeks, so your unlimited access will continue for the remainder of the current four-week period. Afterwards, you will still be able to view 10 articles per month on NYTimes.com and read unlocked articles on our apps at no charge, just like any other visitor.
