Since our start, the Pulitzer Center has been committed to funding and promoting important photojournalism that challenges our definition of crises and explores avenues beyond traditional reporting to raise awareness of critical global issues.

This week, we're thrilled to announce a number of events we've lined up as part of FotoWeek DC, featuring some of the best photographers we've worked with recently. These photographers have demonstrated a unique approach to covering crises with exceptional vision that turns "public interest" journalism into journalism that the public is interested in!

The events will feature the work of photojournalists Marcus Bleasdale, Dominic Bracco II, Sean Gallagher, Andre Lambertson, Richard Mosse, David Rochkind, Stephanie Sinclair, and James Whitlow Delano. You'll have a chance to connect directly with many of these journalists throughout the week so we hope you'll join us for this exciting celebration of these photographers' work.

Friday, November 4th: Opening Night Receptions for Beyond Witness FotoWeek Exhibit

Please join us for the opening night celebrations of our exhibit featured at FotoWeek Central.

The festivities begin at 5 p.m. at FotoWeek Central with the exclusive preview opening of this year's exhibitions. At 8:30 p.m., we'll move to the Corcoran Gallery of Art as the celebration continues with FatBack DJs and monumental projections. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served at both venues. One ticket provides entry to both events.

November 5-12: Beyond Witness FotoWeek Exhibit

This exhibit features the compelling work of eight of our photojournalist grantees whose work challenges traditional representations of crisis. The show includes photographs from Marcus Bleasdale, Dominic Bracco II, Sean Gallagher, Andre Lambertson, Richard Mosse, David Rochkind, Stephanie Sinclair and James Whitlow Delano.

Exhibit hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Location: FotoDC Central
1800 L St. NW. The exhibit is free, but registration is required.

November 7: Noon Lecture Series at the Corcoran with Stephanie Sinclair

Stephanie Sinclair will present her work on child brides and engage in a discussion about her experiences reporting on conflict and global social issues. Jon Sawyer will introduce.

November 7: New Approaches to Crisis Photography

Join us for presentations from, and discussions with, Pulitzer grantees Dominic Bracco II, Sean Gallagher, Andre Lambertson, Richard Mosse, David Rochkind, Stephanie Sinclair and James Whitlow Delano as they share the unique ways they approach covering crises. Details on the work that will be presented and the event can be found here.

Reception: Following the panel there will be an outdoor reception sponsored by the GW Program Board with a projection of Richard Mosse's work on the south wall of Lisner Auditorium.

November 7: Richard Mosse Projection of Infra

Richard Mosse, a photojournalist cum fine art photographer, is known for challenging the photojournalist's role. His imagery of Eastern Congo's devastating civil war is shocking and complex, just like the conflict it seeks to understand. We'll be projecting a collection of his images from the Infra book that the Pulitzer Center co-published with Aperture.
