Crown Prince chairs 13th GCC Interior Ministers Consultative Meeting

Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz chaired the 13th Consultative Meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Interior Ministers at the Conferences Palace in Riyadh this evening. The meeting was attended by UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al-Nahyan; Qatari Minister of State for Internal Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani; Omani Interior Minister Humud bin Faisal Al-Busaeedi; Bahraini Interior Minister Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa; Kuwaiti Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmed bin Humud Al-Jabir Al-Sabah; and GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani.

At the outset of the meeting, Crown Prince Nayef welcomed the conferees and reiterated the far-sighted view of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz that the GCC states should transition from cooperation to union. Confirming that aggression against any GCC state harms all the GCC states, he condemned the interference by external forces into the internal affairs of Bahrain and the UAE.

During his remarks, the Crown Prince noted the close relationship between security and the civilized development of nations and peoples, stressing that the preservation of security is a humanitarian requirement and duty. He pointed out that the GCC member states face many challenges due to their strategic location and economic significance. Finally, Crown Prince Nayef said that the most prominent topic of the meeting would be the updating and development of the GCC security agreement.

The Saudi delegation to the meeting included Deputy Minister of Interior Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz; Assistant Minister of Interior for Security Affairs Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Dr. Ahmed Al-Salem; Director of Public Security Gen. Saeed Al-Gahtani; Advisor to the Minister of Interior Dr. Saed Al-Harthi; Deputy Director General of General Investigations Lt. Gen. Khalid Al-Humaidan; Director General of the Minister of Interior’s Office for Studies and Research Saud Al-Dawood; Director General of Drug Combating Maj. Gen. Othman Al-Muhrej; and Director General for Legal and International Cooperation Affairs Dr. Abdullah Al-Ansari.
