USSABC President Speaks on U.S.-GCC Trade and Investment Panel
On April 18, 2012, Edward Burton, President and Managing Director of the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council (USSABC), spoke on the panel “Trade, Investment, Finance, and the Way Forward: A Conversation on U.S.-GCC Economic Relations,” organized by the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations. The panel discussion featured Daniel Mullaney, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) for Europe and the Middle East, and Jason Buntin, USTR’s Director for Europe and Middle East Affairs, and included representatives from bilateral GCC trade associations and non-government organizations. On April 10th, the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council (USSABC) hosted a webinar on Business Opportunities for Northwest Companies in Saudi Arabia’s Agriculture and Food Sectors. The webinar featured Dr. Tawhid Al-Saffy, Director of the Agricultural Trade Office at the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Dr. Khalid N. Alrwis, Professor at the Department of Agricultural Economics in the College of Food and Agricultural Sciences at King Saud University in Riyadh. The U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council (USSABC), in cooperation with the Minnesota Trade Office (MTO), has successfully concluded its fourth Minnesota Business Development Mission to Saudi Arabia. The mission, which took place April 1-4, 2012, included delegates from nine companies and was accompanied by Representative Keith Ellison of the Fifth Congressional District in Minnesota. Eng. Mohamed Al-Mady, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi petrochemicals giant Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), has been named the new Saudi Co-Chairman of the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council, effective March 1, 2012. He succeeds Abdulaziz Al-Quraishi, Chief Executive Officer of Ali Al-Quraishi & Brothers Co. Eng. Al-Mady has been a member of the Business Council’s Board of Directors since 1998. More...
