King inaugurates Phase I of University Cities Project, lays stone for Phase II

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz today inaugurated Phase I of the University Cities Project, which will be implemented in a number of regions of Saudi Arabia. The King also laid the foundation stone for Phase II of the Project, which will be carried out at a cost of SR 81.5 billion [$21.73 billion].A ceremony marking the event was held at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, during which Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Al-Anqari delivered a speech. “We are celebrating the inauguration of Phase I, as well as the laying of the foundation stone for 18 university cities and academy complexes for male and female students in Jazan, Hail, Jouf, Tabuk, Najran, Northern Borders, Baha, Shaqra, Majmaah, Taibah, Qassim, Taif and Kharj,” he said. The plans also include the construction of “twelve 3,800-bed university hospitals in Jazan, Jouf, Hail, Baha, Taif, Taibah, Tabuk and Northern Borders, Najran, Rabigh, Kharj and Qassim,” he added.
