GCC leaders hold summit in Riyadh

Under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the 14th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Consultative Summit was held at Diriyah Palace in Riyadh today. Delegations were led by UAE Prime Minister and Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum; Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa; Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sayyid Fahad bin Mahmoud Al-Saeed; Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani; and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.During the meeting, the participants are scheduled to discuss GCC issues, as well as developments in the regional and international arenas. In particular, the proposal of King Abdullah to move towards a GCC Union will be discussed.
The Saudi delegation to the meeting included Crown Prince Naeyf bin Abdulaziz; Minister of Defense Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz; Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal; Riyadh Governor Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz; Chief of General Intelligence Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz; Commander of the National Guard Prince Meteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; and a number of other senior officials.
