Honey, I shrunk the Chinese!

Columnists

The sharp reduction of Chinese as a population ratio is contrary to natural growth patterns and an anomaly due to institutionalized discrimination. The present Chinese condition requires them to speak better BM to fit in.

No greater love hath man and moms than they lay down their life savings for their children to study overseas and emigrate.

Between March 2008 and August 2009, some 50,000 students sailed from our shores, Deputy Foreign Minister A. Kohilan Pillay told Parliament last week. The Star speculates that many will not return. Star editor Wong Sai Wan wrote: “… some even admitted that they had already applied for their PR visas???.

They are among 304,358 persons registered with Malaysia’s representative offices abroad over the past 18 months. A review of statistics will help us to interpret this unique Made-in-Malaysia export of roughly 17,000 units of human capital on average a month.

Among the ethnic groups in Malaysia, the Chinese are the largest outflow and also experiencing the biggest change in demography.

197035.6
1980 32.1
1991                        26.9

2010   22.6 *
2035    18.6 **

In the 80s decade, the Chinese had a negative net migration rate of -10.6 percent. “Between 1980 and 1991, the [Chinese] migration deficit was estimated at 391,801 persons as against a national increase of 777,339 persons,??? statistician Tey Nai Peng found in his study.

Chinese annual growth rate also showed a consistent drop, recording only 53 percent between 1990 and 2000 during a period when the national population grew 123 percent.

Tey said in his paper ‘Causes and consequences of demographic change in the Chinese community in Malaysia’ that “the fertility of the Chinese declined from 4.6 children to 2.5 children between 1970 and 1997???. Comparatively, total fertility rate for Malays in 1987 remained a high 4.51 when TFR for Chinese was 2.25.

Changes in the states

It is no longer true that Penang is a Chinese majority state. In 2010, Malays in Penang are projected to be 670,128 persons – outnumbering Chinese at 658,661. Between 1991 and 2000, Penang had an average annual growth rate of 1.8 percent but Penang Chinese only 0.7 percent.

Perak has significant numbers of Chinese but still, Chinese registered a negative growth of -1.0 percent in 1991-2000 whereas the average annual rate of Perak population growth was a positive 0.4 percent.

The Department of Statistics records that in the 1990s, Chinese fell in number in Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis too. In Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Pahang, Chinese were practically stagnant.

In Sabah, Chinese were 23 percent of the population in 1960 but shrunk to 10.1 percent in 2000. “In contrast, recent immigrants and refugees, with a population of 614,824 persons in 2000, form close to a quarter of the total population, or more than twice the size of the long-settled Chinese community,??? writes Danny Wong Tze-Ken in his paper ‘The Chinese population in Sabah’.

The situation in Sabah is largely a result of ‘Project M’ giving Indonesians and Muslim Filipinos Malaysian ICs. Overall, the abnormality of a shrinking Chinese population ratio can be traced to government policies that actively discriminate against this community.

Small families, ageing parents

By year 2000, Chinese were mainly concentrated in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The Klang Valley accounted for 38 percent of all Chinese in the Peninsula. Nine out of 10 Chinese today are found in urban areas, concentrated in the major cities.

In the dozen years between 1980 and 1991 when the Malaysian population increase nationally was 4,634,500 persons, Chinese increase was only 530,400 persons. Or looking at it another way (as indicated in table below), the Chinese are merely doubling in absolute numbers when the population will have quadrupled.

It is conspicuous that among the younger age cohorts, Chinese are an even smaller proportion of the national average. On the other hand, among the elderly [60 years and above], Chinese constitute 5.4 percent of the population, as against the national average of 5 percent.

Among the ethnic groups in Malaysia, Chinese have the highest proportion of the elderly. “It is found that most of the ‘clients’ in nursing homes are the Chinese,??? observes researcher Philip Poi Jun Hua in his essay 'Ageing among the Chinese in Malaysia: Some trends and issues'.

This situation affecting the Chinese community, with parents either in nursing homes or ‘home alone’ in Malaysia whilst the children are abroad, has ironically come about due to education as a main contributory factor.

“The Chinese community places great emphasis on education but the escalation in the cost of acquiring an education might have compelled young couples to limit their family size,??? surmises Tey.

Because educated Chinese women are in the workforce as well as limiting themselves to only one or two children, Chinese couples have more money to spend on each child’s education.

This is in a way a lose-lose scenario because the couple would then tend to over-protect the single offspring – do recall China’s one-child policy outcome of producing Little Emperors – and the well-educated child is more likely to emigrate.

Self-interest vs community concerns

“All my friends plan to leave Malaysia,??? a private student in the offshore campus of a premier Australian university in KL declared to me just a couple of months ago.

These youths have cogently articulated why they intend to vote with their feet. Aside from the various reasons we’re all familiar with, I’d like to introduce here the theory of ‘placelessness’ which Lee Boon Thong links to the Chinese condition.

In his paper ‘Placelessness: A study of residential neighbourhood quality among Chinese communities in Malaysia’, Lee observes that Chinese in cities have subordinated neighbourliness and personal ties to the pursuit of personal advancement.

The move to new urban and suburban residential neighbourhoods – where availability of Chinese food and access to shopping malls are often major considerations – is accompanied by other shifts, among them the increasing “technopolistic grip??? [orientation towards digital entertainment] and losing some of their traditions [e.g. ancestral worship], especially if they convert to Christianity or Islam.

These shifts have the effect of loosening bonds to an old hometown – witness Chin Peng’s strong attachment for Sitiawan as a contrary example – because the young generation has become city born and bred.

Lee describes the new society resulting from intense urbanization as one breeding individuals who are more self-centred, more covetous, less considerate and kiasu to boot. “Self-interest overrides almost everything else that concerns the welfare of the community.???

He also says that if the trend persists of residents in emerging neighbourhoods failing to develop ties that bind and a sufficient sense of commonness in community life, then “urban Chinese are at risk in producing a pseudo-progressive society that appears to be outwardly prosperous through its middle-class façade but in effect lacking social coherence and a sense of shared ‘placeness’ for the neighbourhood???.

Commonality as militating factor

Further aggravating this estrangement is a social milieu that is changed, parallel to the pronounced changes in demography. It is projected that while the annual growth of Bumiputera in the next decade (2011-2021) will be 1.98 percent, the corresponding growth of Chinese will be 0.73 percent.

Saw Swee Hock in his 2007 ISEAS paper ‘The Population of Malaysia’ projects that by year 2035, Malaysia will have a population of 41 million, 72.1 percent of them Bumiputera. By then Islam would have stamped a thorough dominance on the physical and moral landscape of the country.

Concomitant to this development is the fact that in the mainstream of all spheres of life and particularly official domains, the predominant speech community will be Malay.

This fait accompli of demography dictates that the minorities have to be adept in the Malay/national language for any meaningful integration to occur. Otherwise, to borrow a turn of phrase from Lee, they will be living in “proximity without propinquity??? or in other words, have trouble relating to the majority.

It is thus necessary that next generation Chinese be effectively multilingual and able to ‘code switch’, i.e. use different varieties of language in different social settings. If Chinese are unable create a connectedness especially across ethnic lines, this shortcoming would just be adding another factor to the myriad push factors driving young Chinese away.

The statistics tell a very sobering story. In another short 25 years, Chinese will only be a mere 18.6 percent of the population. They will soon fall below the sustainable threshold for propagating their culture, and their diminishing numbers will only increase the pressure for assimilation – something Chinese are reluctant to do.

Let us recall Lee’s description how “n a sense, ‘placeness’ may be defined in terms of ‘belonging to a residential neighbourhood that demands a reciprocity of identity in terms of behavioural or interactive response. The lack of such may be termed as ‘placelessness’.???

Neighbourhoods today are increasingly Malay, and one of the largest is Shah Alam where the authorities have disallowed the building of a Catholic church, tried to restrict the sale of beer, made it very difficult to own a dog, and residents protested against a proposed Hindu temple.

To extrapolate Lee’s allusion of ‘placeness’ to a wider national context, we can infer that having a poor facility in Bahasa Melayu would only compound the Chinese placelessness in a country that has purpose-built for one race such a locality as Shah Alam, and one that will in future be dotted with more mini Shah Alams.

I know of some Malaysians who actually follow UMNO's advise: go back to China. Being bilingual and fluent in English, they are doing very well and very happy living China, thanks to UMNO advise! Malaysian Chinese should look on the positive side. Their ancestors were forced to leave China for various reasons, but now their children are happy and achieving so much more than had they remained in China.

  • humble  - migration

Fellow Malaysian, i fill sad that that many are migrating to greener pastures. but this is call the ''greener pasture syndrome". yes plenty Chinese are moving away. But it is the same thing is happening in Chinese majority Singapore.those who run away will give many excuse, yes life is less easier for the Chinese. But that cannot be the only reason for leaving, but a useful to leave your responsibility of taking care your elders. this is fact can be seen from the many Chinese elders abandon by their children in old age homes.

  • Outsider  - Vote with your feet

The policy has indeed entrenched a culture of entitlement among the Bumiputras in Malaysia. They will of course defend that status quo to the death.

This affirmative action policy worked so well in improving the lot of ethnic Malays in Malaysia, simply because there's a lot of non-Malays to go around. In other words, if you have to ride the coattails of another group, just make sure there are enough coattails for everyone in your group. Remember, way back in the early 70s, the non-Malays comprised half the population. Surely, if you have to take from the Peter's to give to the Paul's, it's important that you have enough Peter for every Paul.

That situation (of having a significant non-Malay population), however, is fast changing. The Malaysian Chinese have been moving out of the Malaysia in droves. And that, of course, is the right thing to do. The more you put up with an unfair policy, the more you justify its existence. It's all about the principles. What you get in life should be justified by hard work and smart choices, not legislated entitlements.

Painful as the prospect of uprooting and re-rooting in a foreign land may be, however, the one right they can't take away from you is your right to vote with your feet. So go use it, and let history judge that policy for what it is, an unfair policy which no other country in the world should adopt for itself.

  • Your Southern Neighbour

Fellow chinese in M'sia, it's about time you stop dreaming that you are regarded as an equal citizen of M'sia and start planning on how to exit the country for the sake of your future generations. Your Malay 'fellow citizens' can't wait to skin you alive, to see you pack and go, to take away everything that you own and built thru your own blood and sweat. if you don't do it soon, the day will come when they will send you packing. The anti-chinese riots of the 60's will repeat itself, I can assure you, in even greater scope and tragedy. Your solution is not that far away - you only need to look South, Singapore, the barren island, devoid of any antural resources, yet an economic, political and military powerhouse that punches way above its weight. The little red dot that was kicked out and expected to go crawling back to M'sia, did the unexpected, achieved the impossible through sheer grit, ingenuity, industry against all imaginable odds. We welcome all talent, especially M'sian Chinese because the same blood runs through us, we are the same people, we share the same culture, history and ancestry, we are ONE. But if you choose to join the success story, you must be prepared to give your full commitment. We don't want you to just come in search of a job. We want your contribution in everything including military service. If you want to make S'pore your home, you have a duty to help protect it and preserve its sovereignty. I have come across some M'sian chinese who are critical of NS in S'pore, they don't understand that without a strong and credible military force, the Malays would have trampled all over S'pore for they, incld Dr M himself, are acutely aware that if they mess with S'pore, they would be courting disaster. So, do carefully consider my suggestion, and make your decision fast, before the Malay thugs get their hands on you and your family.

  • Othman Abdul Aziz  - My View

I like reading this article very much .
The facts are there supporting the claims or so called evidences.

However discussing a very sensitive subject such as these require a lot of personal understanding as well as the intellectual wisdom in all its facets and spheres of affectations and causes of this race "struggle' and dilemma underscored by the Chinese community of Malaysia, albeit subjectively.

My personal interpretation of this issue would bespeak on the irrelevance of certain claims that sounded very lamenting, unsound, unwarranted and sometime malicious to the extent of certain exposed issues troubling the minds and bodies of the Malaysian Chinese community here in Malaysia.

I believe all Chinese or even the other races are being fairly treated generally here in Malaysia if we believe in what we say and do like a true blue real Malaysian citizen.Nobody can say that another race is more superior than the other ( despite far flung accusations often coughed out by certain irresponsible quarters of the people) . But as it has been known throughout the social history of mankind, people tend to dislike the government of a country in which they live in. Hereby,i am referring to the much scorned and taboo subject so called " politics ". Due to the politics of power and dominance, some communities tend to feel marginalized by the other and so on. People often said that it is hard to be humble and this holds true to oneself if he or she is educated or wealthy.
We cannot blame the government if the population of a certain community in a country shrunk based on the annual demographic statistic data supplied. Basically it was a way of life or social standard that each person wants to lead and to have. Among the various races of Malaysia, the Chinese community equate wealth with one's attainment of education and social standing. It is very much a globalized Chinese trend and threat whereby they are pursued by the fear of losing one's selfish endeavors and worldly possessions.
As a little example of a total contrary to such a characteristic, one can highlight the plight or rather the situation of some Chinese tin miners in Bangka province in Indonesia. When tin was first discovered in this area, the Dutch had allowed the immigration and importation of Chinese workers who later became permanent settlers of the once burgeoning tin mining industry town in the whole archipelago. Today, most of the Chinese descendants there could still not converse in the Indonesian language and they have prospered and acquired unlimited wealth and resources, upholding their ancestral customs and traditions and most wonderfully of all, despite that, they did not experience being marginalized or felt awkwardly discriminated despite being overwhelmed in a population dominated by the other race, in this case the Malays ( Indonesians).
Politics is a grievous institution whereby dissent, resent, greed and power are the order of the day. Politics is also money and influence but all these are the same as in everywhere in the world , no matter where we inhabit. Even PAS for that matter, if their people are into politics, their attitude are the same as any other unscrupulous political figure. Mind you, the modern PAS politician is no ordinary "turbaned " and "robed" guy. They are modern thinkers who still want to marry 4 wives, gained wealth and stature and at the same time be seen as "religious" in the eyes of the general public. In Malaysia, danger lurks if the Chinese and the Indians were to rule the country as a majority, it could lead to the country heading into doom and gloom in a much faster pace in terms of crime and and other social immoralities.
They might not even prevent the Muslims from indulging into gambling, prostitution, alcoholism, extortion and murders and so forth. The Muslim government of Malaysia, from which the basis of the current government policy is being dictated and implemented wants to provide a check and balance scenario so that the God fearing Muslims will not be easily be carried away by these worldly vices which would otherwise be controlled and conditioned. Even Asians sometimes felt discriminated in their newly embraced adopted nations such as Australia and Europe because there is no place like home where the grass is always greener although sometimes marshier.

"jika anda semua cina ingin mendapat hak yang sama, maka jadilah lebih melayu dari melayu seperti yang berlaku di INDONESIA APABILA CINA DI SANA LEBIH INDONESIA DARI ORANG INDONESIA SENDIRI"

Just goes to show how "ceteknya ilmu yang ada pada awak". Yup, we all know what happened to the Indonesian chinese, they got slaughtered in the late 1990 by the Indonesians. How useful was it be assimilated. Not at all. To be more Indonesian than Indonesians, only ended with slaughter.

So nope. cultural assimilation is not the way. You still get slaughtered.

But in any case, the chinese are leaving. Like the elves from Middle earth, our time in Malaysia is ending. Soon, all of Malaysia will belong to the Malays and they will have to face the consequences of 50+ years of UMNO mismanagement.

It is my home too, but I can not do a thing. My hands are tied, nobody will listen to what I have to say. The only thing I am allowed to do is leave. So I go, if I can not protect my nation, at least I must protect my family.

Watch, as Malaysia gets overrun by international and domestic events. It started to happen 40 yrs ago. First, reduced growth, now stagnation, and in the future collapse. It will only take a decade more. This is sad, so very very sad. Malaysia was once a nation who only peer in Asia was Japan. Today its peers include Vietnam.

So "i-am-proud-to-be-malay", if you are proud to be a Malaysia and not just being a Malay. If you love this country and not just it's land, please do what I can not. Tame UMNO. Remove its corrupted leaders. Save the nation. Give some attention to Sabah and Sarawak. They too are Malaysia but attention was ever given to them. Help reduce poverty regardless of race. A very high percentage of Indians are very poor, they deserve better. Malaysia can waste RM12 billion on corruption and RM1 billion a year on F1 racing but can not spare 5 sen to combat real poverty.

A man's word should be his bond, be he a malay, indian, chinese or a politician.

Do you love Malaysia? Then do what I can not, what policians say I can not. What need be done for Malaysia. Are you a patriot?

Ultimately it affect all who call malaysia home.

You said you have two managers that contributed too much towards your company success, will you give them some part of your company share because of their contribution?

    Lim Kiat Siong:
What? Just simply give? It's imposible! How come I will just give them the share, it is my own company and I fully owned it...

Well, following your analogy thinker, the story should continue.

    Journalist:
So how much did you pay your two manager? It must have been a lot.

    Lim Kiat Siong:
    I didn't pay them.

    Journalist:
Excuse me. Do you mean your two top managers worked for free?

    Lim Kiat Siong:
I didn't say that. You see the company was rather poor at the beginning, so I paid them with employee stock options. It was also good incentive for them to work harder. If the company didn't succeed, they got nothing. It was brilliant really. And didn't cost me a thing.

    Journalist:
If you paid them in employee stock options, shouldn't some of the company, be owned by your two managers?

    Lim Kiat Siong:
You got to be kidding me. I'll tell them to forget it. The company is mine, period. Stock options or not.

    Journalist:
That is fraud, Mr Lim. You could get into trouble. Can I see how much stock options you have given?

    Lim Kiat Siong:
Here, taken the report. If those two think they can tell me what to do in my company, they have another thing coming. I can fire those two, you know.

    Journalist:
It appears that you have paid them enough stock options to make them full and equal partners.

    Lim Kiat Siong:
, ! (minute silence) Hmm... would you look at this.

    Journalist:
This is a nice photograph. They are very pretty women.

    Lim Kiat Siong:
Yes they are. Those are my four concubines. I am a very loving man. I have a big family, 38 children.

    Journalist:
    I don't see...how

    Lim Kiat Siong:
Well you see, I know for a fact that while both my managers are married with a wife of their own, Mr Kerpal has only one son. Mr Gohind has only two children. Using a bit of math and you realize that this company, my company supports a total of 50 people. But 43 of those people are me and my family. So to be fair to everyone, 86% of the company profits should belong to me and my family. It is only fair.

    Journalist:
    What about the stock options?

    Lim Kiat Siong:
    What about it?

    Journalist:
Mr Kerpal and Mr Gohind own in combination 66% of the company. Their share of the company profits should be 66%.

    Lim Kiat Siong:
How can you be so selfish. My family is bigger. They will suffer without their fair share.

    Journalist:
But what if Mr Kerpal and Mr Gohind have larger families or have 4 concubines of their own?

    Lim Kiat Siong:
That will never happen. Company policy prohibits employees from having concubines. It is immoral. And as for more children, they'll lose their company health benefits if they do. We got to do our part to keep world population down, you know.

Obviously you are not only stupid but also an uneducated and illiterate to understand that a DNA test can show that if you are indeed a pure Malay and even where you ancestors came from.

Nonetheless it is not too late (you can even take my offer and challenge to your half breed pariah Mahathir) now my offer and challenge is still on. Didn't this half breed 'Malay's' grand father come from Kerala India ?
Do you know that his descendants are becoming or trying to become Chinese, his multi millionaire son, has married a Chinese and as a result has 50% Chinese grand children and if one of the grand children was to marry a Chinese the descendants will become Chinese. That would surely be a disgrace to the Chinese.
Or am I wasting my time on a stupid pig like you ?
Or may be because most of you, if not all of you, including your pariah Mahathir, are half breeds and pretending to be a Malay. Stupid and uneducated bastards pig !
May be you should go back to school (have you been to one I wonder ?) and learn how to read and comprehend my sentences. Go get yourself a NDP scholarship ! It is so easy to get one and they are giving them out by the millions. May be you have already got one but still remain an uneducated
    bastard that you are.
Or may be you need more than 'clutches'
    to become educated !
Or may be you are just pretending not to understand what a DNA test can do.
Or may be the lack of courage (do you understand the word courage ?) to take the DNA test I offer. But be warned, the DNA test will not only show where you are from and who you are, stupid, uneducated pig and most of all a half breed that you all are ! Come on take my challenge to have your DNA tested to prove I am wrong and also the pleasure of having me a Chinese walk all the way back to a super powerful country that even your P.M. has recently asked the Malays to learn Chinese.
Finally let me tell you this your hatred for the Chinese is because of your own inability to succeed and complete in life ! You are just a
failure in life and has to vent your hatred, frustration and disappointment on someone.
Don't blame the Chinese for your failure just blame yourself, stupid, because you were born stupid ! Though I must say that not all Malays are born stupid like you but you are just, like what Mahathir said in his book you are stupid because you are a by product of in breeding like many Malays. What an excuse for being stupid !
Imagine living in a Malaysia without the Chinese when your Malay leaders including your P.M. now realises even the lack of Chinese in Malaysia, not even without the Chinese yet (but one day it will be at the rate they are immigrating to other countries and accepted) is causing Malaysia's brain drain.
The Malay leaders are now begging the Chinese professionals to RETURN to Malaysia to serve the country, without saying to save Malaysia with people like you around. I wonder why don't they turn to people like you instead ? When you all are already here ! Why ?
Let me tell you why because you are only stupid ,uneducated and most of all good for nothing and not even to yourself and without anywhere to go and needed ! They don't even want you back in Indonesia. My heart cries for you my ass !

@Anti Chinese - 99% chinese are cheating to get much money?

Wow. And how is that? Do you think all chinese are rich captains of industries? Or run businesses? Many of chinese are just salary type people.

And who do these chinese cheat? Let me guess, hard working Malays?

If a store owner cheats a customer can you guess what happens? The cheated customer will tell all his friends not to visit this cheating store owner, earning said store a bad reputation. Said customer also won't visit said store again. Soon, very soon cheating store owner will have no customers at all and will close shop. And all his suppliers that he cheated too, will also black list this man, and he will never do business again. BAD END.

Obviously you forget what cheating does for you.

And lastly, there is hard work and there is lazy. If hard working is sinful and deserve punishment, many Chinese, Indians and yes, Malays too deserve to be punished. People who hate hard work, call it kiasu, envious of the drive to succeed.

Slaughter of chinese in American, Korean, Australia, Vietnam? What you are smoking over there?

You got a few hits, with Indonesia and Cambodia. Although the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia were killing Buddhist monks, Muslims, Western-educated intellectuals, disabled people ethnic Chinese, Laotians and Vietnamese.

I think you need to brush up on your history or learn to use google and wikipedia.

Chinese immigrants are deserved to undergo ethnic cleansing - Anti chinese
Well... there goes the Malaysian dream.

  • Anti Chinese

    To KJ

Ok, chinese paid tax..but where they got the money to pay the tax? Of course from Malaysia (formerly known as Tanah Melayu) resources.

Yes, some of Malay are involved in cheating money but 99% chinese are cheating to get much money...right? When chinese cheating or bribing, there will be no issue coz it is not wrong for them. The fact is the chinese God is MONEY...hahaha

Chinese is synonym with cheating & kiasu, that's why they are hated all around the world. This is the fact man, accept it.

Do you ever think why chinese been slaughtered all around the world by Americans, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Malaysian etc since decades ago? Because of their fucking ultra kiasu and ungratefull attitude. They are little brother of Jew.

Chinese immigrants are deserved to undergo ethnic cleansing..sooner or later, it will be happened!

  • International hitch hiker  - Bad Chinese with Arab names

    @Anti Chinese,

Ah my verbose and somewhat rabid man, I as sorry to say you are mistaken. And my data comes out of Mahathir mouth (He should know, he was The PM and Finance Minister) and a few economist articles

You only need to understand the sad fact that Malaysia are a middle to low income nation.

Of the ten-million strong workers in Malaysia, there are only about one million taxpayers. And most of those are chinese. Why?

Well because Malaysia has progressive taxation. You need to earn more than RM 50,000 to pay significant tax.

Yes, it is the classic "cina kaya", although it is more accurate to call them upper middle class.

But wait where are the upper middle class malays? They are gone! Where too? The NEP has moved this people into the next economic class, the rich!

Yuppers, 90% of all Malay wealth is in the hands of a 5% of the Malay population.

Just look as ASB ownership, the bottom 80% of the Malays own only 5% of ASB shares. And the top 5% own 65% of ASB share.

And given the ultra rich are good a hiding money (as always), they pay a minimal amount of taxes. After all K toyol, only earns RM16000 as MB of selangor (although he can afford a RM23 million house).

Chinese help themselves to cheat money?

I guess people like K Toyol, Rafidah Aziz, Tajuddin Ramli, Mahathir, are chinese. They have certainly helped themselves to lots of cheat money. Bad bad chinese with arabic names.

tldr: chinese pay more tax, because the chinese wealth is more equally distributed compared to the Malays. Lower Gini coefficient. Rich people, chinese, Malay, Indians, Bill Gate are better at hiding their money, especially when that money comes from robbing the state finances, see K Toyol and his RM23 million house.

  • KJ  - to anti chinese

you must under government scholarship to holiday in us during 2003-2007,of course you learned nothing in us besides drinking beer in bars and wasting tax-payers money(chinese pay 90% of tax according to mahathir) now you have the shame to call chinese 'pig'.go to fuck yourself you ungrateful bloody bastard racist.

There's a rich n very successful chinese businessman named Lim Kiat Siong that will be interviewed by a journalist.

    Journalist:
Hi Kiat Siong, can you briefly tell us about your company & how your company is so succesful?

    Lim Kiat Siong:
I work so hard and I have two workaholic & dedicated managers, Kerpal Sink n Gobind Duo Sink. They contributed so much towards my company success. They got a very well paid and they work since the foundation of my company.

    Journalist:
You said you have two managers that contributed too much towards your company success, will you give them some part of your company share because of their contribution?

    Lim Kiat Siong:
What? Just simply give? It's imposible! How come I will just give them the share, it is my own company and I fully owned it...

    End of story...

    Morale of the story:
If Lim Kiat Siong is Malay and his company is Malaysia, and the two Indians are chinese, will Malay (same case like Lim Kiat Siong) just simply share the nation (same case with the company)with chinese (same case with Kerpal Sink n Gobind Duo Sink?

To the anti-Chinese, Bumi, and the ungrateful chinese Damn,

I have issued to all you Malay pigs, that is what you really are, a challenge to have your DNA tested. You all call the non Malays names and threaten us with our lives, that is what you are good at issuing empty threats but none of you have the guts to accept my challenge to have your DNA tested to prove you are pure Malays. Don't believe a word of what is written especially those authors funded by the Malay government, written by the Malays and its institutions plus all the half cooked historians.
You all are indeed chicken-hearted, come on bastards, the DNA test is the final answer to all your false believe that you all are pure Malays and the non Malays are pendatang.
If we are all the Chinese were to return to China, as suggested, at least they have a super power to go back to or even to countries that would gladly welcome them. Sorry to say, at best, you can only go back to Indonesia. Even Indonesia does not want you and they even recently want to burn your ass for stealing their heritage, dance and music.
The Malay government in the last decade ,or as recently as last month your P.M. ,have sent delegations of officials to beg the non Malays professionals to return to serve the country. They even offered to give the non malays professionals incentives to return to Malaysia to serve. Why they can't find these professionals amongst the millions of you ? What a joke !
They must also be fools and more stupid than all of you to do that because in the first place you all called the non Malay professionals to go away in the first place but now you are begging them to return. What a sick joke !
Also the Chinese have never ever claimed or pretend to be sons of the soil so should all of you Malays.
You are the real pendatang, prove me wrong and have your DNA tested and if you DNA test shows you are all indeed pure Malays. It would not even cost you a cent ! Plus I will gladly walk all the way to China. Come on and take the test and prove you have the right to call the non Malays pendatang and also the 'right' to ask them to leave the country. Have you, the pendatang, not got what it takes to be real Malays ?

Also, yeah. I hope the chinese population in Malaysia drops to 1-5% or better yet 0% in Malaysia!

When everybody accepts that Malaysia has a population of 65% Malay but has any action or actions been taken to have this figure verified ?
These figures are only given by pariah Mahathir to justify the many pro Malays
policies he implemented during his tenure as P.M..
Just like when he has 80,000 non Malays voters lump together and be represented by only one non Malay M.P. in parliament.
When he has one UMNO M.P. to represent only 8,000 Malays in one area in parliament. While one non Malay M.P. to represent 80,000 non Malays in parliament !
Is the UMNO M.P.'s voice louder and better in parliament ?
You don't need the brain of a primary school boy to tell you that was how pariah Mahathir was and UMNO is continuing playing around with the figures of Malaysia's population to stay in control of Malaysia and above all to justify the pro Malay policies.
So don't you or anyone accepts that the figures the pariah and UMNO have come up with !
The figures that Malays are 65% of the population is only just an illusion to justify the pro Malays policies !

shamsul, 75k out of 100k is 75%. Simple maths. Malay popn is 65%, therefore, there are more Malays fleeing the c'try than Chi (25k = 25%.) And for you to suggest 'balik Tongsan,' you must be one chauvistic, ultra-rightist who's a lot intellectually challenged. Nowadays, we Msian Chi don't 'balik Tongsan' - lah; we emigrate to Aust, NZ, Canada, Eng, USA and Europe-lah. Jom pergi bersama-sama kita sebelum terlambat. Jangan balik kampung. Masa kini, tiada lagi 'kampung' seperti yang dulu-lah. Sekarang, satu dunia adalah kampung kita. So, Shamsul, if you are not prepared for this global village, you are royally-screwed. We Chi didn't do this to you. You partied your way into this sh*thole. In the meatime, human capital is all Msia has over the next 50yrs to get out of this sh*thole. But the human captial has fled! Malays did a great job in scaring the Chi sh*tless with the incessant calls to 'not challenge Malays rights...avoid May 13.' You think for moment we are only concerened about May 13? You don't remember 1997 when Chi were slaughtered in Indon? And they were totally ASSIMILATED - you couldn't tell the Chi from the non-Chi. Yet, they were targted and massacred!By 2050, Chi in Malay will be no more than 10%, a piss in the rain, popn-wise. With Malays treating us as 2nd-class citizens and PROUDLY PROCLAIMING this with impunity, warning us day-in-day out we cannot fight for our rights to be equal as Msians and threatening as we May 13, unsheating the keris, waving the keris when it suits you...shamsul, go fcuk yourself!

Can someone do an advertisement for Tourism Malaysia? The Truly Asia theme with all the races seem a touch unrealistic with all the racist hate spewing from the Malays about pendatangs.
If they don't welcome or celebrate different ethnic groups of their own citizens, isn't it a little hypocritical to use the multiracial/ multicultural theme?

Maybe something like this sounds more plausible :

Malaysia welcomes you but if you don't like it, you can lump it.

Famous words:Kalau you tak suka, you boleh keluar!

    as if

  • Why bore me

    @shamsul,

Hi, Petronas has given RM 2 trillion to the Malaysian economy. And note that in 1989 that there only 17 million Malaysian. 50% of which were Malays. So it would have been possible for the government to have given each and every Malay person (man, woman and child) in that year, RM 250,000. THat would have ended any form of Malay poverty. Instead we have people like K Toyol and his RM 23 million house. All the money into a few elite Malays.

P.S: It was on the backs of the chinese and Indians that Malaysia was built. Hundreds of thousands died in malaria infested jungles. Did the Malays help? No. WHy? Because you would have been desperate to the point of insanity to work in such conditions. So I am not blaming the Malays for refusing to work like a slave, it was a rational and wise choice.

All I am saying, is give credit where credit is due. Also note that a good 25% of chinese Malaysian school children do not finish school.

But shamsul, if you can't respect history and if you really want us gone. I will go, just like the 3 million of so other Malaysian chinese. And before I go, just a few words of advice

    - Malaysia's oil is running out. Timber rich Pahang in bankrupt. No money, no NEP.

    - Is it not amazing that Vietnam is now compared as a competitor of Malaysia by international investors? Ask yourself when did this happen? By the way, their IT infrastructure is as good as Malaysia. Amazing is it not?

    - Once upon a time, South Koreans and Taiwanese used to work as maids and laborers in Malaysia. Now the flow is the other way. And we look up to them as high income nations.

    - With great power comes great responsibility. Malays parties (ie AMNO) has been in control of the nation since independence.(~50 years). The Malaysia you see today is a product of AMNO's will. So do try to govern your nation.

    - Beware the irony of Malaysia's leaders. While there is much hate for Malaysian chinese, our dear PM is driving the nation into the hands of China. We local chinese think of Malaysia as home and will fight for it. But Chinese from China will tear into this Malaysia up like a hungry shark. But hey, better to trust an exploitative superpower, than your own citizens.

    - If you tak suka, you boleh pergi.
Never has there been better words to describe the Malaysian experience. Malaysians of all races have followed this advice. Just look a Bernama's report. Of the ~100,000 Malaysians who have given up their citizenship, ~75,000 were Malays, ~25,000 Chinese and ~1,800 Indians. Can you just imagine what kind of professional that Malaysia is losing.

    - Is it still a discount if nearly every one gets it all the time?

Why is that the concept of Malay supremacy which no longer shouted about by the Malays, being made an issue by the DAP? Is this another ploy to cover up the shortcomings of the opposition and the coming of Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trial, which Awang incline to believe?

All knows that DAP need Anwar badly to break the Malay social structure which is the backbone of the country’s strength. After attacking the National Civics Bureau (BTN), the party sparks another issue – the Malay supremacy.

The argument is still the same, that there is no justice in the so-called Malay supremacy as it treats other communities as slaves.

The DAP Vice-President, M. Kulasegaran had even pledged that he would continue to raise the issue and was not afraid of anyone.

Awang has explained time and again that the Malay supremacy has never made the Malays as masters and the non-Malays as slaves. The Malay supremacy is just a symbol and the position of the Malay rulers act as a foundation of the nation in safeguarding the interest of Islam, Malay cultures and Malay language.

The concept of Malay supremacy is based on the national constitution. Does the DAP leaders which struggle for the Malaysian Malaysia concept want to push aside the position of the Rulers and prefer to turn Malaysia into a republic?

Awang tends to believe that this is the underlying struggle of the DAP. However due to the forced circumstances that does not favour the party, many of its underlying struggle has come out to the fore.

Indications are aplenty in the systematic preparation of the DAP towards achieving a republic nation with the main target to rewrite the Constitution.

The action by another DAP leader, Nga Kor Ming questioning the hefty government’s allocation in the construction and maintenance of mosques compared with other houses of worship, is another attempt to question Islam as the official religion of the country (it is in line with other DAP leaders in opposing Malaysia being referred to as an Islamic country).

The statement by Kor Ming is nothing but extreme and totally unacceptable. The suggestion by Karpal Singh in making English as the second national language is also deplorable.

It is an attempt to weaken the Malay language as the national language, which enjoy an exclusive position in the Constitution.

Several months ago, all still remember that the Malay Rulers were ruthlessly ridiculed by the opposition leaders, a situation unprecedented in the country’s history.

On the issue of Malay supremacy, Awang find it strange why the DAP is so fearful of the concept which has been giving the best safeguard to other community.

It never happened in other countries where the majority race and backbone of the population is so generous to the minority.

Today, the real master in Malaysia is not the Malay, especially in controlling the economy. Majority of the poor and backward are the Malays in the Peninsula and the bumiputeras in Sabah and Sarawak.

The sacrifice of the Malays in giving the citizenship rights to non-Malays and giving way to other community to control the country’s wealth is being reciprocated with betrayal.

Just like Kulasegaran, Awang has nothing to fear any of the DAP leaders who are getting overboard in their action and throwing the political reality of the country to the wind.

Since the DAP’s action is becoming more extreme, it is suggested that Kulasegaran and Kor Ming migrate to other countries. Live there where there is no shadow of the Malay supremacy to haunt them.

He can live in India, where the religion of its core community is Hinduism which is inherently linked to the Indian sovereignty. Or he can migrate to Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong, where everything is in the control of the Chinese.

It will be better if they want to live and die in the United States, Britain and Australia, where the whites are the supreme race.

But if they want to continue to live in Malaysia, Awang suggest that Kulasegaran and Kor Ming be detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) or legal actions be executed against them as done by the Singapore government towards the opposition leaders.

Leaving them free to stir up racial sentiment is dangerous and posed a high risk on the national harmony. Many of the minority leaders in other countries uphold the Constitution of the land where they live.

The United States President, Barrack Obama, as an example, defends the constitution of the US since the early stage of his involvement in politics and never veered from its foundation.

Unfortunately, the DAP leaders are none of that picture. They are too racist by taking cover behind the cry of democracy. In this context, Awang would like to ask what if the interests of other communities are being drastically questioned.

There are many matters which are seen as unjust to the Malays and bumiputeras. In the end, those who become victims are those in the majority representing the people of various races who want to live in harmony.

Failure in handling such issue will spark racial extremism. Many of the Malays are keeping silent. But that does not mean they agree. A time will come when they are running out of patient, the outcome of which will bring disaster to the country.

Awang is mixing around with the Malay at the grassroot involving all parties and can feel their overwhelming sentiment. So do not take for granted the patience and generosity of the Malays.

Does the DAP leaders like Kulasegaran and Kor Ming want to be responsible when the explosion come?

  • pastor carey

and never the twain shall meet.........

It looks like after 50 years of independence, the country that was built on the premise (or was it promise) of a 'Malay' nation has finally lived up to that premise or promise as the case may be;it would seem either by design or accident, though the overwhelming evidence points to an engineered solution for 'Malay' nationhood(so-called Ketuanan Melayu or more like a xenophobic Malaya for Malays formula) by the (racist? debate still raging) UMNO leaders before and after May 13, 1969 and after forcing Singapore and Lee Kuan Yew out of the country.

So bear with me for a moment...isn't it conceivable or believable that the then Alliance was an inconvenient arrangement
which the Malays then had to put up with(bearing in mind they couldn't rid the country of the 'pendatangs'?)
And 50 years of 'evidence'is hard to ignore; subsequent generations of UMNO/Malay leaders had finally succeeded in harnessing the country's resources for their own benefit which they had been trying to do all along....hence, we can now clearly see and understand all the discriminatory policies that were formulated and designed to 'force' the 'pendatangs' to leave on their own accord.
They have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, adopting Nazi doctrine and methods without the condemnation of the world community(unlike Idi Amin of Uganda and the Boers of South Africa for example)Brilliant strategy. Why,they even succeeded in creating Princes of the Soil out of half breeds and low castes whom they 'engineered' to fit in their warped sense of superiority, much like the creation of an Aryan race(which was predicated on blond hair and blue eyes)but the Malaysian super race model was anything but.... any old race will do as long as they are Muslims or natives just to make up the numbers to fit in the democratic model of governance imposed by the old Colonial masters(or master race?).Lending legitimacy, so to speak.

Before any self righteous Melayu start to jump out of his/her chair or Umno supporter start to demonize me to prepare for the Special Branch to put me in detention for rehabilitation or put me away for national security reasons, I'm one of the millions of 'cowards'who have decided long ago to jump ship or out of the burning house before the house burns down and I'm safely out of harm's way or out of your evil reach.
Having said that, I have absolute admiration and appreciation for those who have decided to stay and fight the evil regime. For the sake of my children and grandchildren and their descendants, all I can do is to provide a safe place for them, much like the Jews who escaped from the clutches of Hitler's evil regime(Jews of Asia, BTN?)

We are not rich nor talented enough to run MNCs or become world stage players but we are thankful to God for giving us an opportunity to start a new life in a peaceful and civil society in a country which practices true democracy and respect human rights and which welcomes any member of the human race, and accords them equal rights and privileges as residents and citizens.

We do not have to bear the stresses of being 1st or 2nd or 3rd generation-born and still made to hear every other day that because you're non-Muslim Chinese or Indian that you are pendatangs and asked to go back to where you come from.
We do not have to suffer any more that despite having gained 8 As or whatever that you can't get a place in a course(s)that are reserved for students of the master race.
We can now express our thoughts and feelings if we need to voice our opinions freely without fear of being arrested under the ISA or Sedition Act if we do not agree with the government of the day.
We do not have to hear of complaints about the country's leaders who are accused of alleged murders, corruption, abuse of power, sodomy,or idiotic feats like being a space tourist but claiming to be the country's first astronaut/cosmonaut.

Nor do we hear stories just about every other day about wives and uncles and sons of departed Very Important Idiots who used to be servants of the people but see themselves as masters of the people instead(master race, perhaps?)who squabble over the millions and hundreds of millions illegally amassed.

Suffice to say that we are now more safe than sorry that we decided to leave for good.
My father escaped the Communists and was thankful for the safe haven and a country under the British which accepted him as a citizen with equal rights.
But after 50 years of UMNO rule, the country has change for the worse and squandered hundreds of billions of the country's money in the process.

We may not be there yet but at the rate the country's going, we will soon be in the same league as Zimbabawe,Sudan and Nigeria. Especially when in 14 years the oil reserves run out.

Who wants to stay home and serve here where meritocracy gives way to racial preference? I am a two-time graduate in University Malaya (masters and bachelors degree) and I used to hope that my children could enter a local university someday.

But with sliding university ranking and invisible barriers to keep non-malay students away, I have changed my mind. If I have the opportunity and money avails itself, I will send my children to overseas universities and ask them to emigrate there. We can rot and die here, but not the children.

This brain drain is not a problem to Umno at all. In fact, Umno is happy to see more and more of our talents leaving. Their power base will then be more secure.

All this started with Dr Mahathir. He believed that a half competent malay was better than a fully competent non-malay to serve the nation. This is clearly reflected in the progressive exclusion of non-malays from teaching profession academia, public service and other areas in the public sector as well GLCs since the early 1980s.

During Dr Mahathir ethnic cleansing of the Malaysia public service, thousands of qualified non-malays left the country for Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, etc. Such departure was view positively by Dr Mahathir - it meant that there were more positions available for malays. That short-term thinking has had dire consequences.

During the regional economic boom of 1990s, Malaysia prospered. There was plenty of money. Incompetence and corruption did not matter - a failure could always be rectified through bailout; high costs (e.g. Proton) could always be neutralised through subsidies (for export) or higher prices (for local consumption).

The scenario today is different. Competition is stiff. Newcomers such as Vietnam are breathing down our neck. Giants (India and China) have awakened and are marching unimpeded.

Malaysia needs to exploit all its resources to meet the global challenge. Ignoring 40% of its most valuable resource (e.g. human capital - Indians, Chinese and East Malaysians) is no way to meet the challenge.

Najib needs to put in place a policy for exploiting the most valuable resource Malaysia has - its people, including the Indians, Chinese and others. Otherwise, this resource will move away to the competitors of Malaysia.

If deployed properly, the talents will be a source of competitive advantage. If not deployed appropriately, the talents will become a source of relative competitive disadvantage for Malaysia when they end up in other countries.

Majority of the non-malays work in multinational companies. With the rate our government and GLCs pissing off these MNCs! These MNCs are moving out of Malaysia.

Get real! Why majority of the non-malays don't work inside GLCs? What do you think they would do when these MNCs are gone? Work in GLCs or emigrate outside Malaysia?

Some of my friends are always skeptical of Singapore.

Of course, Singapore intention is to protect their own interests (isn't what a government is for) - talented people are very mobile nowadays. Singapore also encounters brain drain to the West (US, EU, Australia), so they need new talents to come in.

They prefer Malaysians, as there are cultural ties - easy to adapt to the environment (multiracialism, language, weather, etc), like their Mr Everest climbers.

But they also welcome white mans, Thais, Indians, and Hong Kong Chinese too etc. Just take a MRT ride or go to the housing estate - you see many foreigners (not the illegal immigrant type).

We have our own national interests and should protect it, but we have more outflow of talent than inflow. Just see how we treat the economist who had a different method of calculating the bumi ratio of the economy - how to attract talent?

Some of my Malaysian friends have been offered citizenship and a few have accepted……….so those talents not going back to Malaysia.

Singapore is following US policy, US still attracted the best brains from all over the world regardless of color, check out the composition of employment in term of nationality in Silicon Valley and Nasa, you will know why it succeed, America is land of immigrants.

Umno policy is that if Umno cannot have it no other Malaysian should have it. Umno prefers a Mat Salleh (because that is a temporary situation) to have it rather than any other non-Umno Malaysian to have it.

I have been advising my relatives and friends for a long time since years ago - to encourage their children to apply for a Singapore scholarship to attend a university in Singapore even it that means she/he has to serve Singapore for 10 years.

At least, that will provide him for the future. So what is 10 years! He is free to utilise his talent as he pleases after that 10 years. I have 3 nephews who got Singapore scholarships, then served the Singapore government and are now working and being successful in Hong Kong and America.

They are heads of multinational companies. They will never be allowed to succeed in Malaysia because there is identification of race with jobs. All jobs even slightly connected with the Umno government must have malay employees. That is the new NEP.

Dear Malaysians, I don't understand why the brains should not leave this country. The malays are definitely feel threaten by these brains, so we rather let them leave the country.

Malaysia pays peanuts and racially biased! That is why! Simple as that! Go to England, Australia and even the US hospitals and take a count of how many Malaysian born doctors are there, good doctors, man!

I traveled the world over and have lived in UK, Australia and the US. I have talked and met to these doctors. They not being unpatriotic, it is the Malaysia that is not doing the right thing!

I think Singapore should attack Malaysia and expand its territory to southern Johor. All the Indians and Chinese should migrate to southern Johor, and together with Singapore, forms a new Singapore.

Ex-Malaysians in exiles like myself will support this feasible plan. I am sure millions of overseas and mainland Chinese and Indians are excited about my suggestion.

When all the Muslim brothers from Uganda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nigeria, Indonesia etc etc, become bumis and enjoy the handout from NEP, there will be the day when the malays realize that they are being marginalize by its own Umno policy.

You can start counting the increasing numbers of Mamak in politics!

In Malaysia, we Malaysian Chinese just need to compete with fellow Malaysians only (where mostly lazy people). Easy to become rich - as we are governed by stupid and lazy people.

We can easily own several houses, luxury condos, own a bungalow at good location, as own and drive luxury cars in Malaysia.

In Singapore, not so easy, we have to compete with Singapore Chinese, Hong Kong Chinese, China Chinese and Taiwan Chinese. Not easy to become rich as Singapore government too smart.

Malaysia will continue to lose its talents not only to Singapore, and other countries but the Umno malays don't give a damn. Their thinking is so long as the malays benefit, the country can go to the pigs and dogs.

They hold the entrenched view that it is better for Malaysia to be another Zimbabwe or Nepal if being in the ranks of Singapore and Japan means malays losing out to the others.

Lim Keng Yaik said that Singapore was a small country, so it was easily to govern. In fact, it is not so. Because of its size, it lacks most of the factors of production that we learn in economics.

Land is scarce, and its domestic market is small. However, it recognises that what it has is its labours. No wonder that it is wooing all the brains from Malaysia, since Malaysia does not appreciate them.

Instead, Malaysia seems to be attracting the top criminals as shown by the sharp increase in crime rate. Malaysia with its oil, tin, rubber, oil palm etc, will forever not be able to beat a small country like Singapore because of its incompetent leaders and their cronies who are only interested in their own pockets.

Before the NEP, UM was one of the top universities in the world. After the NEP, it has become trash because it rejects the best minds. The only pro of NEP is if you are in Umno or a friend of theirs.

All the Singaporeans I have met were very nice to me and treat me like one of theirs. We are the same people and I am always in favour of reunification with Singapore.

  • Andrew

    Amin,
Those Chinese that have left behind is not that they are less competent. It is just that they are waiting for the right opportunity and financially stronger before they could settle down comfortably overseas. I beleived that a lot of them are talented lot and waiting to fly out of this cage. (like myself)

  • aziz

Malaysian Chinese, why are you all a worry lot. You have prepared your young to be more mobile, you could boast that your young could roam the world to earn a living, and now they are leaving, and why are most of you worried. Chinese are obssessed to prepare their next generation a better place in the world, wouldn't it better if your younger people scured a place in a develop country, so that they could prepare your grand children to be more progressive people.

I had experience living in Australia for a few years, and I met some young Malaysian Chinese, who studied there and working there. Few of them just selling ice cream aroun Sydney Harbour and Opera House, I met few of them just a sale assistant at Sydney fish market, and suprisingly they don't complain.

Look around, the Malaysian chinese at home here, what are the topic they always talk, I think about 75% of what they say are complains, complain the makcik selling nasi lemak, complain the teachers at school, complain about transport delay, complain about Ah Long, complain, complain, complain.

I had been to Beijing recently, the China chinese also (my tourist guide) like to complain Chinese gouvernment a lot, but he reminded me not to talk bad about Chinese gouvernment around Tien ann ment square . They are also a very worry lot, they are scared that the Taiwan will swallow China with the help of the American, which they are sure to happen in two or three years time, the latest by 2015.

Common la chinese you like to create underseige mentality and you expect other people to worry like you, and they do things that benefit you without you toiling yourselves

    Criteria/Qualifications for Global Citizenship:

    1. Ability to read, write and converse fluently in English

    2. In possession of an Internationally recognised degree or profession or a member of an Internationally recognised professional body

    3. Working experience gain by working in an Internationally recognised Company.....

correction - umno is an elitist racist party...

  • swipenter

At least the country can take "comfort" that we are more successful in exporting Made In Malaysia Chinese than Made In Malaysia Proton cars!!!!!

  • syed putra ahmad  - leave malaysia to those who believe in it

umno is a racist party and they implemented discriminatory racist policies for their own ends being in power for so long. the 'chinese' and 'indians' who felt discriminated against decided to leave this 'god forsaken country' because its not worth their talents and all.
i think, these people, either umno, 'chinese' or 'indians' should all leave malaysia because they are not worth this beautiful and blessed country. to them, it is all about their own stomach and self interests.
leave malaysia to those who believe that this country is worth their fight and life at all costs, wether they are malays, chinese, indians, punjabis, ceylonese, sarawakians, sabahans and all. only these people will make malaysia great, not parasites.

  • Robert  - Have the Malays waken up

This flight of Chinese to other countries have been a welcome thing to the Mahathir government. In an effort to choke off the Chinese without realizing its consequences, BN welcomes all the under qualified/rejected Indonesians to increase their population count. Now that they have achieved that, the consequence is clear. The Indos in malaysia are thieves and create disorder to all races in Malaysia. The Chinese that have left, leaves the country with less talents. These talents/human capitals that the country need are gone. Which talented being wants to work in a country with diminishing currency value when hopping next door to our neighbours, they get paid multiple times. This is a lost cause for Malaysia unles the racist UMNO government wakes up now!

  • BUAYA

300 000 migrants x us$100,000 per year = $30 000 000 000 or $30 billion dollars per year or RM 100 000 000 000 OR 100 billion ringgit that Mamak wasted in 22 years. If these migrants has a working life of 30 years and assuming same average earning per that is equal to RM 3 000 000 000 000 or 3 trillion ringggit.!!!!! Is this chicken feed or what? That is why Tumasek is laughing to the bank. Malaysia is just a hatchery and other country is harvesting the brains with no investment. What Mamak has damaged in 22 years could be remedied by minimising the brain drain. The the longer the no action is being taken the more dire straits it will be. Wake up Malaysian politicians it is not the short term but the long term. Talk is easy, we need action immediate like yesterday.

    Dear Readers,

Below is an excerpt from Malaysia Today on Sept. 12 2008.

My name is Rustam Affendi bin Major (Retired) Hj Abu Rahim (ARMY). I lived at Bukit Beruntung, Rawang, Selangor since Yr 2000.

I wrote a piece about of my late grandfather, Sergeant (British) Mohd Yusoff bin Jannah.

Please circulate to all Chinese young brothers and let they understand the basic principles of fighting....

I would say we should eliminate the cannibal tribe so called "UMNO-Putras"...

They like The Dajjals in our Moslem religion.

They destroy every instituitions or whatever in Malaysia.... since 1957

Please read and translate to whatever languages so.... The Dajjal of UMNO-Putras could be eliminate from our beloved country of Malaysia.

The Story from "My Beloved Grandfather".

Dear Friends / My Beloved Malaysian Malaysia..,

I am sorry if I write in Bahasa Melayu English... as it is "more flowing emotions" from myself..

Nama saya Rustam Affendi Abu Rahim...,
    No KPT - 721224-08-5737...

all is EMPTY talk... TALK.. EMPTY

    N A T O

    No Action Talk Only...

Apatah lagi.., kaum Tionghua / Chinese Malaysia pada hari ini..
yang amat mementingkan diri sendiri... seperti Kiasu...

Anda boleh memaki hamun.., you could hurdle any LETTER words..,
waahhhh.. itu... waahhh ini.. waah waaah woohhh..
    hanya di MT sahaja..,

ironisnya.., when comes to the actual gathering..,
    Isnin 15 Sept. 2008, 8 malam..

NOBODY COMES... ( cut my finger lah... if over 10,000 people...)

then.., the old lame excuses again pours...,

".. oohh.. I am sorry.., I have an urgent meeting/appointment.."
".. ooh.. I am afraid.., I have an important matter unexpected.."

    and the worst is...

".. I am sorry.., I need to take care my family.."

Today.. 2008 - Young Malaysian Chinese are more .. jaga perut sendiri..

Today.. 2008 - Young Malaysian Chinese are not the descendants of the Best Warrior of Malaya that killed at least 300,00 of them..
( as quoted by MCA recently )

I want to re-fresh my untold true story of my beloved late grandfather..,
that been in my mind about the sad war... since my young days..

My late grandfather.., Sarjan (British Police) Mohd Yussof bin Jannah..,
he was at a Police Forces of Penang during The Invasion of Japanese of Penang.

Point Story.... ( dated December 8 until December 17 of year 1941 )

    1. All soldiers of any divisions whether British or Askar Melayu.., all were
assembled at Singapore as the last fortness
    2. Only the policemen forces left behind to take care the whole Penang island
    3. A huge of arms and weapons.. and all and all.. named it.. were also left
    behind by the British..

    Questions..

Do you know who defend Pulau Pinang dated December 8 until December 17 of year 1941 ...?

    1. A small number of policemen
    2. A small number of public voluntarily such as AP.. (Auxillary Police) and
    others
    3. The Great Warrior of Local People consists of Malays, Chinese, Indian and
    others..

    so.. these are the people...

and Penang Chinese is the majority up to 80% from the forces...

My grandfather always told that he felt proud during the last 8 days war in defending his motherland of Penang..

Thousand of his comrades/friends died for the name of Penang..,

as my grandfather also born in Penang.., Kg Rawa...

    I REPEAT..

Thousand of his penangnites died for the name of Penang..,

not for MALAYA.., not for the SULTAN..,
not for CHINESE or MALAYs or INDIANs..

... so .. that just a part of the story...

    so.. morale...

I have been at Permatang Pauh Nominations Day - P44
    on Saturday, 16 August 2008

There was more than 60,000 people there..

    Point Form...

    1. There was thousand of young Malays
    2. There were also thousand of young Indians
    3. And thousand of Chinese.. but middle aged Chinese.. all over 35 years old..
LGE, LKS and all my respected DAP leaders

    but.. sadly..

    4. Less than 100 young Chinese .. considers 30 years and below...
    at Permatang Pauh...

So.. that why I said .. today Young Chinese (below 30 years old)

    are coward.. COWARD...

come on my friends... Young Malaysian Chinese..,

if my grandfather could fight together with your grandfather in Penang..,
    67 years ago...

we must get as ONE again.. UNITE as ONE...

ONE FOR ALL... ALL FOR ONE..

    As DSAI says..,

INI Negara bukan UMNO yang punya.., INI Negara.. KITA yang punya..

Anak Melayu.., Anak Cina dan Anak India..

    Semua adalah ANAK Kita..

    K I T A..

    so..,

    please...,

get back your uncle.., your father...
to have the real story of MALAYA...

do not write.. in Malaysia Today..

blahh ooo.. blahh eee... all is the COWARD things only...

If the police want to take me to ISA..,

yes.. get me.. and jail me...

I am Rustam Affendi Abu Rahim of Bukit Beruntung.., people know me.. here..

    so then...

All the Best for My Malaysian...

    Selamat Berpuasa

    All the Best for RPK..

    GBU...

    Wassalam...

  • Anti-Banana Fighthing Chinese  - Only Cowards Leave!

Some of the comments mentioned about how the world has changed, now the American President is an Afro American or Black. But they also failed to realized the most important fact of all, the Blacks have endured far greater pain then the Chinese here in Malaysia, and they persevered.

Did you think that came easy for them? Slavery for hundreds of years, dodging lynching and Klu Klux Clan through out the years and finally only in the 80's things started to get better.

The blacks fight on, didn't migrate back to Africa or migrated to UK or Australia, they stayed on and in the end, the Presidential seat is theirs.

If LKY decided to call it quits, that tiny red dot to the South of this country won't be called Singapore as we know it.

Singaporean Chinese are 'quitters' too, but their case is much more of an economic matter, as oppose to racial discrimination. Goh Chok Tong called those who left Singapore as 'cowards' too.

  • Realist  - Only fools fight in a burning house

    @Anti-Banana Fighthing Chinese.

I applaud your bravery to continue the good fight.

You can continue fighting for equality. But the Malaysian chinese future in politics days are already numbered. The Malay population is growing so fast that the chinese vote will become insignificant in another generation (25 years). You just won't have enough political weigh to do anything. And this has nothing to with "cowards" that leave, it is "bantuan" kerajaan.

In kuantan the average Malay family has 12 children, Chinese have 3 and Indians 5), that the chinese.

Or you can do what 50,000 other chinese have done and join Islam and become a Malay. You will get the equality that you are looking for. 1 Malaysia!!

But all that does not matter. The fact is Malaysia is a house on fire. Our leaders have wasted and stolen such a large part of our nations wealth that the nation is ill. They have so slowed our development that nations decades behind us now offer us stiff competition.

By 2014 Malaysia becomes a NET importer of oil. Oil no longer brings money into the country and oil contribute 40% of our economy, you can imagine what will happen. Do note that in 1989, oil only contributed 14.7% of our economy. Malaysia economy was selling other things in the 1989, but not doing so now in 2009.

Our education system is so bad, that even our private sector (no need to mention our public sector) is ailing. The uni grads produce aren't good enough to serve.

It will take at least 20 years to fix. Why? Because none of our current government teachers can teach in english or have good standards anymore. This is what we get for dumbing down our universities. We will need to build Malaysia's education from scratch. At best it will a generation, perhaps two. 20-30 years.

And all that repair work, will take money. Money which this nation may no longer have. Yup. Malaysia's oil runs out somewhere in 2030-2040. That is it, no more oil. And at the rate we are logging Sabah, Sarawak and Pahang, there may not be any lumber left either.

The AMNO in the name of the Malays have already rid themselve of the Chinese. It is just a matter of time. But they have ruined the country due to their greed. And when the roof starts to collapse, AMNO will blame the chinese (As they always do), and the Malays may turn on the chinese seeking someone to blame. Finally the burning walls of Malaysian falls in on everyone... Malay, Chinese or Indian, still inside, thus ending the Malaysian dream.

You can fight. But realize that victory is unattainable and even the prize might be turning into ash.

Only a fool fights in a burning house. If you must fight, be smart enough to jump out, wait for the house to finish burning, then get back in to continue the fight. Maybe then the Malays will accept our help to rebuild the Malaysian dream. Maybe then the Malays will have learned that they have friends, and that not every Malay is a good guy and every non-malay a robber.

So leave, make mega money, do get PR, but keep your Malaysian citizenship. Once AMNO fatcats have left the husk of Malaysian for their million dolar mansions, we can come back and slowly make Malaysia into respectable nation.

Malaysia will never live up to its potential as an Asian powerhouse that rivals Japan (those days ended in the 1970s with the NEP).

  • Yellow thru & thru  - Tough get going!

Hmmm, anti-banana fighitng chinese is spot on - we are yellow thru & thru. Just like our forefathers who fled their motherland to come to Tanah Melayu - yellow thru & thru. They fled and they lost! Now their offsring are in a land of ketuanan melayu, pay 10% more a house, are told not to challenge special rights of Malays, are cursed as 'pendatang', are beaten dead and thrown off buildings, work their butts off in public service and get nowhere, are told from time to time 'bath this keris...' Geez, I am going to lose for sure. But since I am yellow thru & thru, it is in my blood to uproot my family, take them to a new land, start from scratch, face the uncertainty of whether we will succeed, compete with others on meritoracy and nothing else, pay the same for a house, be able to fight discrimination in the courts, forge a new future free of the yoke of ketuanan melayu, free of being cursed and psat on, free of the keris. Damn. LET'S LOSE!

  • Tomcat  - Yellow Banana

Through no fault of our own we are born and bred here and we pay taxes, a huge 90%, if the grand old man is to be believed. We are called 'pendatang' and asked to go back to China if we complained too much. Now I will love it. I will love to be allow to move to our homeland, the greatest economic miracle the world has ever known. Can those in power negotiate with the Chinese government to take us back since it was a historical mishap that cause us to be here in the first place? Most chinks completely have no loyalty to this country after going through decades of discrimination and bad-mouthing from those 'prince of the soil'.

  • Anti-Banana Fighthing Chinese  - Only Cowards Leave!

You leave, you lose. Instead of staying and putting up a fight, the majority of the Chinese, the young ones especially, prefer to 'save their ass', and 'not get involve'.

Look at all the marches and rallies, be it anti-toll-hike, reformasi, BERSIH,etc, you can hardly find a chinese. Look at the PPSMI rally. During table talks and all, the Chinese language association was also against PPSMI, but when it came to walking the talk, they chicken out.

There are few exceptional ones, DAP supremo and son, Tian Chua from PKR and many others too. To them, it's worth fighting for equal rights, this is home and no other place like home and if God has put the responsibility on their shoulder that they would represent their race,so be it. In and out of ISA, lockups, Black Maria etc, you name it.

    The rest of you?

So don't put the blame entirely on the 'institutionalized discrimination', but also blame the majority of the Chinese 'save assesses' mentality, not get involved mentality.

But when the day comes to reap the reward, when Malaysia does dismantle many of its race discriminative policy, they weakling-cowards shall return.

It's just a Malaysian Chinese attitude problem. Let someone else sweat-blood and fight, we'll stay on the sideline, oh pay taxes too, but that's about the maximum contribution. Fight? We're Chinese,we don't get involve.

So go ahead you cowards, leave. Let the brave Chinese stand and fight injustice here while you enjoy being a banana...thinking you'll be better off with Ang Moh, sipping your mocha latte or having a scone while we endure tear gas, police intimidation, pay more for buying a house etc.

    Cowards.

  • Aryan of the East

thing is that we need to find a way to create awareness amongst the chinese folks, most chinese have the "i couldnt care less" mentality, our MCA dumbrains are juz a bunch of garbages who only care for their own benefits, Hitler was right,he said "as soon as egoism rules the people, men fall from heaven to a real hell",fight back or all will be lost. i cudnt conceive why the chinese have no ethnic nationalism sentiment within them, the japanese ppl had done a far more better job in this sense than d chinese, although they share the common ancestor.

    ~miscegenation is a sin~

  • Azli Othman  - M'sia is a lost cause

As a Malay, I can say that M'sia is a lost cause. This country is stuck in a deep embrace of mediocrity because of policies to prop up the Malays. As more competent Malaysians leave, the remaining Malays will be forced to face reality that there is no free lunch, despite all the falsehood that they have heard from their champion party, UMNO, all these years.

  • zik

I dont hear this kind of story from Indonesian chinese or Thailand Chinese!
If you young chinese leaving the country why dont also comments about young malays or young indian or any other ethnics..it's not about kiasu or chinese anymore this day!!

  • Chan

I am a chinese malaysian. I have been called a 'pendatang' (squatter), treated as 3rd class citizen (yes, 3rd class citizen, after the Indonesians), being told that I am 'tolerated' and must be thankful for being able to stay in Malaysia, discriminated in universities and civil service. I am not rich but have to pay full price for an apartment, but a rich bumi will still get 10% discount to buy a bungalow.

Tell me where is the fairness, and why should I stay in Malaysia anymore?

  • tulan  - Thanks

Thanks to BN, specifically the MCA. Not that these shooing are done by them but they are part of this racist machinery that will not stop till you all acquiesce and submit to ketuanan. Please welcome the newly de-industrialised bodohland where maids and labourers are the main exports.

  • Paythinker  - Coolie and Tuan

A smart assguy who assumes he is Freethinker said: "the indians fought for it last year". He didnt mentioned fought for it complaining to the "Queen" of England!!! psst...Queen Victoria is looong dead and gone , get over it Tamilan.

  • Collin  - Dr

This is a well researched article which deserves very serious attention particularly in the context of Najib's so-called 1 MALAYSIA concept.

However, with respect,I believe the arguments will become more forceful in a comparative perspective with the other posting on "Why young Malays are quitting Malaysia"

It seems to me that one important intervening dimension needing greater emphasis is that of intra-ethnic "social class" divisions as causal 'push factors'.This comes out particularly clearly in the case of the
Young Malays where the vestiges of Feudalism/Colonialism seem to neatly overlap with the NEP!

Perhaps this question might be taken up in greater detail later.

I am an accountant and left Malaysia in 1984 and had worked in Australia, ever since. Now my three sons have grown up and two of them are specialist doctors and one is doing exceptionally well in the commercial sector. If we had been treated fairly as citizens, we would still be in Malaysia serving our own people. Now after so many years, we still meet fellow Malaysian who come over recently - all because of being discriminated because we are Chinese. When will the Govt learn and be fair to everyone? If not, more will leave soon.

  • Amin  - It's matter of Quality

The reduction could be attributed to two factors.
Firstly the lower birthrate amongst Chinese due to various considerations, majorly the costs involved in providing good (especially)overseas education to the children. Secondly the millions of top chinese brains emigrated to other countries after 1969.
The lowering percentage of Chinese in Malaysia is therefore an obvious indication of the quality of the Chinese left behind in view of the exodus of drain of chinese brains.

  • Antares  - Transethnics of the World Unite!

When asked what race I am, my spontaneous response is usually "human." If further pressed, I say: "Both my parents believed they were Chinese, but I know I'm not." What I am may be a complete accident of history but I feel most at ease classifying myself as a planetary or even galactic citizen. Yes, my ultimate loyalty lies with the Earth and, by extension, our Solar System and the Milky Way Galaxy. Yet I fully appreciate the delicious variety of cultures, languages and perspectives that has flourished for millennia on this fertile and accommodating Earth. In the end it really matters not where one happens to be born or where one opts to depart the physical world. What one does with one's genetic and cultural resources is the indicator of whether one has done well - or merely been a passive consumer of other people's holographic projections. Let's shake off as many tempurungs as we can while we're at it!

  • Peter  - Mr

overall the Chinese are richer and have better wealth because they are in overseas earning big fat pay. So the sum total is Chinese are doing very very well while the country is losing these same talents to foreign governments.

Just obsever how our neighbours grow and grow while we stagnate. In a few more years, Malaysia may not be of much significance , and would most likely be little Indonesia. .. and with Chinese population as small as 3% like Indonesia.

Well is it a coincidence that the state of development in this region is directly proportional to the percentage of the Chinese population. Just check it out.

    No need to deny it.

Do you see the decline of Malaysian competitiveness as you see the fall in Chinese population ? Coincidence?

Wait until a few more years when the decrease in not linear... it becomes exponential decrease..why? Most Chinese would have had a relative somewhere in foreign countries to sponsor them and with "air Asia" it is just a few ringgit to fly LOL

The loss would be even more rapid... and a disaster for what is left of the country in terms of abilities to compete with the likes of China, Hong Kong, Tailwan,Singapore... all Chinese dominant states. All these states are growing even in this recession. Now who wants to stagnate and not want to join the growth areas? Silly dont you think?

.. actually in the end who cares.
Just make your money and move on.

This is a global world. Cari makan anywhere so long as we are happy.

    No need to complain.

  • freethinker  - Institutionally Marginalised:)

    Hello friends,

The Indians fought for it last year, but none of the chinese spoke out....You were hiding inside Bee End's Sarong.....Shame on you....now complaint so much huh....

    WHEN POPULATION IS AT STAKE

Population size can be increased naturally or manipulated artificially
The choice between quality or quantity can be taken seriously or superficially
In practically all nations politics is just a number game
Yet all major players only want to be absolved from any form of blame

  • noone  - Frustrated chinese!

I am the last chinese mohican in the government service (Perak state). I work so hard but end of the day I achieve nothing while watching those malay plays computer games, watch porno, chit chat and many more in the internet getting "anugerah cemerlang." Seeing staff with lower secondary qualification promoted above your rank. Worst I am seeing less and less chinese in any government service except teaching profession. What else is there for any chinese in Malaysia!
