About Cato University
In every respect, Cato University 2012 is built on the foundations of liberty.This year's program will be held in Washington D.C. In a time of political turbulence, a presidential election, ideological posturing, and so much more, our nation's capital is the perfect setting for examining the roots of our commitment to liberty and limited government, and for exploring the ideas and values on which the American republic was founded.
Within Washington D.C., this year's program is being held at the Cato Institute's newly expanded headquarters, located in the heart of the city. Now doubled in size, the new Cato building will enhance the intellectual adventure for attendees with state-of-the-art facilities, the latest in conference and multimedia technology, spacious and remarkably comfortable meeting areas, and more. This wonderful new facility is the ideal venue for bringing together people from across the country for a one-of-a-kind environment of learning, thinking, discussing, and making new friends. No Price Increase for 2012
To make this wonderful program as accessible to as many people as possible, we've kept the cost of Cato University at $995. This price covers all meals, receptions, lectures, materials, books, and evening events, but not overnight room charges. However, we've arranged low room rates for Cato University participants at nearby hotels.

Cato University 2012 will take you deep into the economic, political, historical, and philosophical foundations of liberty. As the Cato Institute's premier educational event of the year this annual program brings together outstanding speakers and participants from across the country who care about individual liberty, personal responsibility, and are interested in sharing ideas, gaining new perspectives, and learning in a highly stimulating environment. Further, the wonderful combination of interests and ages of the attendees makes Cato University all the more valuable – with so many different backgrounds and viewpoints being brought to the discussions.
