October 16, 2011

The Finance Ministers of the Group of Twenty (G-20) major economies concluded two days of deliberations in Paris yesterday. The Saudi delegation was headed by Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf and included Governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) Dr. Mohammad Al-Jasser. Following the meetings, Al-Jasser said in a press statement that the euro zone crisis is the biggest focus of international economic officials in the short term, as it poses a risk to global financial stability.

The previous day, Dr. Al-Assaf took part in the opening of the Saudi Financial Forum in London, which was held under the theme “Saudi Financial Forum: Growth and Stability.” During his address, the Finance Minister highlighted the strength of the Saudi economy and stressed the Kingdom’s role in maintaining stability in the oil markets. The Forum, he said, will provide opportunities for British and international investors to learn about the numerous economic opportunities available in the Kingdom.
