Now Showing | ‘Lone Star’

The blazing sun is at the heart of the artist Jason Glasser‘s mesmerizing new show, “Lone Star,” which is on view through June 10 at Parker’s Box in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Born in Connecticut, Glasser lives in Paris with his wife, who’s French. But his latest work sprouted out of the year they just spent in Texas — a “self-imposed exile,” Glasser called it, intended to help his young children learn English. That sojourn produced a trippy silent film, streaming above, which was made around Barton Springs, a popular place to swim in Austin. In the exhibition, this film is projected onto a concave piece of glass that was once a television screen. “My tourist-grade camera does some interesting things when the sun reflects off the water so intensely,” Glasser said. “The images in this film have not been manipulated other than what I got just using my camera.”
