Arab Finance Ministers begin extraordinary meeting

Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf led the Saudi delegation to the opening of an extraordinary meeting of Arab Finance Ministers in Abu Dhabi yesterday. The session is being hosted by Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and is being attended by Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) Dr. Jassim Al-Mannai; several Arab finance ministers; and senior officials from regional and international institutions. The Saudi delegation includes officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA).

During the meeting, the delegates will discuss global economic developments and the current situation in the Arab world. Particular attention will be given to the development of Arab financial policies, the activation of inter-Arab trade, and the improvement of the economic and social situations of Arab states. A number of working papers dealing with regional integration, trade, direct investments, coordination of tax policies and other issues will be presented at the meeting.
