King Abdullah chairs Cabinet session (10/10/11)

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz opened the Cabinet session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh today with a briefing on his latest contacts with foreign officials, detailing his talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and a message he received from Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir.Subsequently, the Cabinet listened to a report on the preparations of the various sectors tasked with serving Hajj pilgrims, who have already begun arriving in the Kingdom from around the world. The Council lauded the Hajj Ministry for undertaking the Kingdom’s mission to assist Muslims in performing their pilgrimages easily and comfortably.
The Cabinet then discussed the conferences, symposiums and scientific forums that took place last week, expressing gratitude to King Abdullah for patronizing the Exceptional Session of the Islamic Conference for Higher Education Ministers and Scientific Research. The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources delivered a report on an agreement signed between Saudi Aramco and Dow Chemical Co. for the establishment of a $20 billion petrochemical complex in Jubail Industrial City.
On the international front, the Cabinet condemned the bombing in Mogadishu last week that killed and injured hundreds of Somalis and demanded a halt to attacks by Israeli settlers against the Palestinian people, property, and places of worship.
Addressing its remaining agenda items, the Cabinet approved a number of procedures concerning the construction of a land bridge linking Jeddah Islamic Port with Dammam Port and Jubail through the existing network between Riyadh and Dammam; approved the establishment of a branch of the King Abdulaziz Public Library at Beijing University; and approved the restructuring of the Special Appeals Committee on Disputes of Securities for a period of three years.
