KACST President inaugurates International Workshop On Energy Efficiency

President of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) Dr. Mohammed Al-Suwaiyel inaugurated at KACST headquarters in Riyadh today the “International Workshop on Energy Efficiency and Its Role in Formulating Energy Policies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Al-Suwaiyel stressed that the Kingdom’s electricity sector is facing several challenges, notably the high rate of growth in demand. The annual increase in demand is 8 percent per year, he noted, one of the highest in the world.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al-Naimi; Assistant Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for Petroleum Affairs Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; experts from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy; and a large number of other government officials and experts.
