“From Washington to Riyadh” exhibition opens at National Museum

In cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Information and the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, the Consultative Commission for the National Museum has organized the a cultural exhibition entitled “From Washington to Riyadh” featuring the works of the late Arab American artist Wahbi Al-Hariri Al-Rufaee. The exhibit was opened in Riyadh yesterday evening by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information for Cultural Affairs Dr. Nasser Al-Hujailan, in the presence of U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom James Smith and National Museum Director Dr. Abdullah Al-Saud.

During a speech to mark the event, Ambassador Smith gave an account on the works of Al-Rufaee, noting that the exhibition contains over 50 paintings. “From Washing to Riyadh” illustrates the world’s major mosques, which the artist drew during a journey that took him to Spain, China, Central Asia and Africa.
