Having taught English abroad in Thailand and studied educational access in Pune, India, during her time at Georgetown, Landegger Service Award-winner Deven Comen will join nonprofit Teach For America in the fall of 2012. In addition to her time abroad, Deven also volunteered with DC Public Schools as part of the One World Youth Project, a program designed to connect students in the U.S. with students in other countries through video chats. Comen says she was inspired by her Jesuit education to work for the nonprofit, which places young college graduates in disadvantaged school systems.
