King Abdullah chairs Cabinet session (6/4/12)

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet session at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah today. He began with a briefing on his latest contacts with foreign leaders and envoys, praising Saudi Arabia’s many mutually beneficial relationships with other countries.

Next, the Cabinet reviewed the most recent developments in the region and the Arab and international efforts to respond to these events. It welcomed the statement issued during the extraordinary meeting of Arab League Foreign Ministers held in Qatar, which called upon the U.N. Security Council to immediately take all necessary measures to provide protection for Syrian civilians and to impose a complete cessation of violence in Syria.

The Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom’s participation in a number of recent international forums and conferences, including the 2nd Meeting of the Advisory Board of the United Nations Counterterrorism Center, which was held in Jeddah yesterday. The ministers praised the speech, delivered by Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal at the conference on behalf of King Abdullah, which stated that the fight against terrorism is an international responsibility that must involve a high degree of cooperation between nations.

Addressing its remaining agenda items, the Cabinet approved an agreement with Ireland regarding the extradition of convicted criminals; accredited the final account of the Saudi Standards and Quality Organization for fiscal year 1431/1432 H.; and accredited the final account of the Human Resources Development Fund for fiscal year 1431/1432 H.

The Cabinet approved the appointments of Dr. Ibrahim Al-Zaid as Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowment, Call and Guidance (15th rank); Ibrahim Al-Abdullatif as Administrative Advisor at the Islamic University in Madinah Province (15th rank); Mohammed Al-Homoud as Secretary General of Call and Guidance at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowment, Call and Guidance (14th rank); Fahd Al-Jarallah as Chairman of the Public Notary Office at the Ministry of Justice (14th rank); and Dr. Abdulqader Ameer as Undersecretary of the Mayor for Services at the Jeddah Governorate (14th rank).
