My heart is so heavy tonight. For this little boy and for what he has probably been through. Mr. Lopez was a hero. I have read so many posts tonight from people who have endured this same horror. Children who are now adults that didn't have anyone come to their rescue, and had the other parent look away. My hope is that Mr. Lopez's swift and intelligent actions encourage others to speak up or make a phone call on behalf of a helpless child. Perhaps help victims who are in the same situation realize that this is NOT acceptable by any means. I hope that someone is hugging that little boy tonight, and that he will never be put back into a situation where he is not loved and cherished.

I am exceedingly curious as to just what details could be expected to influence anyone's conclusions about this kind of behavior. It is terrible behavior, terrible parenting, and definitely no legitimate teaching technique. They could provide all kinds of details about the boy being difficult or the man having been beaten as a child, and I might have a momentary feeling of empathy for the man, but that does not change the fact that this is terrible behavior that couldn't really be defended and cannot be tolerated.

A man that will beat a child is not a man. He should be put in prison and see what it feels like.

No shortage of people waiting to take a belt to this guy. Where is the wife? Is he beating her too? Is he peeing in our water?

I commented earlier today about this man’s abuse knowing that a close childhood friend of my sister-in-law’s was lieing in a hospital bed because of a man just like the one we see in this video. A man who thinks he has all the power and control in the world.

Twelve days ago my sister-in-law’s friend was beaten in the head by a man she loved and trusted. For nine days with her brain swelling - she was lieing in a coma .

Three days ago her family disconnected the ventilator and hoped against hope that she would survive.

She began breathing on her own.

Yesterday she opened one eye.

Today she opened both eyes and began to look around.

Her respirations and heart rate were a little high but she was stable. Every one felt more and more hopeful as the hours passed by.

A few hours ago - She Passed away.

Two questions remain for me:

What was Mom's reaction to the video?
What happened to the Step-Dad when he was a boy?

It always makes me sick to hear of this abuse happening - but over catching a baseball? Seriously, dude, you need to have a belt taken to you and see how you like it.

What possible details could emerge to change the fact that this man was beating this little boy with his belt? Videos do not lie - so what other conclusion are we to come to? This is a sicko world...
