This is a complete ranker of Live + 7 DVR Ratings for all programs that aired during the 20111-2012 season. The weekly Live +7 Ratings post will return two weeks after the start of the 2012-2013 broadcast season in early October.
Our source for Live+7 DVR ratings includes only DVR ratings for the 2011-2012 season. The weekly original, regular programs, excluding both repeats (which are unlikely to be heavily DVR viewed) and "specials". There were 160 such programs in the data for the 2011-2012 season.
During the 2011-12 broadcast season Modern Family topped the rankings for the season's DVR viewing adults 18-49 ratings gains. Between the Live+Same Day period (as reported in all our other ratings posts) and the Live + 7 Day measurement periods Modern Family posted a substantial gain of 2.4 adults 18-49 ratings points.
Grimm had the largest percentage gain with a 73.3% 18-49 ratings increase from DVR viewing.
Modern Family led the absolute average viewership gained from DVR viewing adding 4.76 million viewers via DVR between the Live+Same Day and Live + 7 day measurement periods.

Definitions:
DVR (Time-shifted) Adults 18-49 Ratings – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs.
Live+Same Day(Live+SD) ratings include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing.
Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
DVR Ratings Increase Past Airdate - How many people watched the show on their DVRs within 7 days following the airdate
Until the 2009-2010 season, we used a show's LIVE program rating or viewership as the base upon which the LIVE+7 day DVR viewing was added. Now, the press seems to be standardizing around using LIVE+SAME DAY DVR viewing as the base for the calculations, so that's what we do now as well.

Hi @Amanda, @Bill and @Robert, I wrote it last week but I think I did it too late to I’m gonna post it again, just in case. hope you don’t mind. I’s a suggestion.
The thing is, why don’t you change the “Post Airdate %” for the number the post airdate represents in the absolute viewership?
Example:
Modern Family – 05/16, ABC: (L+SD)3.9 (L+7)6.2 (post airdate)2.3, so 27% of the total viewership is post airdate, instead of the the 59% you used to say. The 59% is very confusing.
I just think it would be a more clear and interesting information (because I always have to calculate it myself by my own, the 59% is useless in my opinion), but of course the ones that know that better is you, I just wanted to put my two cents. Thanks!

Sarah: yes, yay for Bones with only 13 episodes, numerous extended hiatuses and moving to the Monday death slot, it did very well indeed.

I’m not a TVBTN employee, but I can tell you that Nielsen doesn’t give out this information, at least to this site’s source. Even if they did, I doubt Bill/Robert would post it, probably for the same reason there’s no summer Renew Cancel Index. It’s because there’s not enough interest. Currently, there’s a grand total of two summer scripted series on broadcast (Saving Hope and Rookie Blue). That’s nowhere near enough interest to qualify for more than L+SD ratings.
By the way, I’ve never seen Sara or Amanda comment ever.
DVR really helps ABC. Modern Family was tied with BBT and 2.5 Men yet DVR helped the show pull ahead of both. NCIS beat Grey’s with just new episodes only but DVR helped Grey’s pull ahead.
@Nick, Beth, the nice folks who send us the Live+7 Day ratings during the broadcast season get them all year round, but like many organizations they scale back what they send out during the summer.

Hopefully, next season, despite being back in the Monday death slot, it will do even better since it will be back to its normal schedule and have a full season+ (I hope).

Yay, Grimm! Kicking DVR butt and taking names. NBC knew what it was doing by renewing it very early. Now we need to get these people to watch live.
I am glad to see Scandal on the list. I just watched it and really enjoyed it a lot.
