Mongolians vote on Thursday to elect a new parliament.
A mining boom, spurred by foreign investors, has generated vast wealth, and one of the parliament's tasks will be to manage a rapidly expanding economy.
But few of the rewards are trickling down to the nation's poorest. The capital city, Ulaanbaatar, is ringed with slums, and for over a million people who have moved there in recent years, the search for a better life has proved a struggle.
Al Jazeera's Steve Chao reports from Bayansogt County in Mongolia.
