Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al-Qasimi
The ruler of Ras al-Khaimah gives insight into the experiences that shaped him for rule.
Last Modified: 09 Jun 2011 13:24

In October 2010, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al-Qasimi inherited the reign of Ras al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following the passing of his father, His Highness Sheikh Saqr – the world's oldest reigning ruler.

During his time as crown prince since 2003 and in various leadership roles since 1979, Sheikh Saud implemented sweeping economic improvements to the Emirate, which have enhanced the local climate for grassroots development and yielded continued economic growth.

His reform initiatives in the areas of education, healthcare, housing, and alternative energy support his desire to transform Ras al-Khaimah into a desirable location for foreign investment.

Following his overseas university education in Lebanon and the US, he pursued several private sector successes in the region. His holistic approach toward leading Ras al-Khaimah into sustainable growth for the future continues to draw upon these experiences.
