Majors and certificate programs

FLL departments offer majors in the following language areas:

  • Arabic
  • Chinese
  • Classics
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Linguistics
  • and collectively in Comparative Literature


Certificate programs in the FLL the functional equivalents of interdisciplinary minors. They include:

  • Asian Studies
  • African Studies
  • Arab Studies
  • European Studies
  • Islam and Muslim-Christian Understanding
  • Latin American Studies
  • Russian and East European Studies

In addition, the FLL offers coursework in Catalan, modern Greek, Hebrew, Korean, Ukrainian, and Turkish. Students can combine their major with any other major or minor offered in Georgetown College, including the pre-medical program.

 

Accelerated Bachelor/Master Degree Programs

Exceptionally qualified students may apply for a special program option, the accelerated bachelor’s/master’s degree program. This program, offered by the departments of Arabic, German, linguistics, and Spanish and Portuguese, allows undergraduate students to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees at an accelerated pace within five years.

Five departments offer graduate programs leading to master’s and/or PhD degrees:
