Sensex up: finmin promise of action sparks muted hope

MUMBAI - The BSE Sensex rose over 1 percent to its highest close since July 11 as improved U.S jobs data sparked a global risk rally, while private lenders such as HDFC Bank surged on hopes for government measures to help the mutual fund sector.

Cognizant raises full-year profit forecast 5:02pm IST

REUTERS - Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp reported a better-than-expected quarterly profit on increased demand for its outsourcing services, and the information technology services provider raised its full-year adjusted profit forecast.
