Ecuador Grants Asylum to Julian Assange, Defying Britain

CARACAS — Ecuador said on Thursday that it would grant asylum to Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, who has been holed up in its embassy in London seeking to avoid extradition to Sweden over sexual assault accusations.
