10/9/2012 R.J. Umberger, LW Locked out by the NHL, Umberger is returning to his alma mater to help coach the Ohio State men's hockey team.

Analysis: The three-year letterwinner with the Buckeyes, who has spent the last four of his seven NHL seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, will be a volunteer assistant to coach Mark Osiecki. Umberger, a Pittsburgh native, has 143 goals and 171 assists in his 551 career NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers and Blue Jackets. He's the first ex-Ohio State player to play with the Blue Jackets.
10/9/2012 Dominik Hasek, G Hasek appears to be done with ice hockey after giving up hope of returning to the NHL again.

Analysis: The 47-year-old goalie resumed training ahead of this season hoping to get picked up by an NHL club, but told Czech daily Sport on Tuesday that it is "very unlikely" he would play again after no team offered him a contract amid the current lockout. Hasek announced his retirement in 2002 after winning his first Stanley Cup with Detroit, but came back and then retired from the NHL again in 2008. He then led his hometown club Pardubice to the Czech league title.
