CYCLING legend Lance Armstrong has been stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned from cycling for life after saying he would no longer fight doping charges by the United States Anti-Doping Agency, USADA. However, he remained defiant as supporters rallied around the American cyclist.

Two Athletes to Represent Libya in 2012 London Summer Paralympic Games |

LIBYA is to be represented by two athletes, Hamza Al Hamali, and Abdulrazag Al Babaa at the London 2012 Summer Paralympic Games that start this coming Wednesday, August 29, with what is once again expected to be a spectacular opening ceremony at the Olympic Stadium in the Olympic Park that a few weeks ago hosted the London 2012 Olympic Games. This latest event will last until September 9.

IN view of the commencement in a few week's time of the 2012/13 Football League Championship, Libyan clubs have been testing their strength mostly in warm-up games against foreign opposition, mostly outside of Libya. One of these clubs, Ahli Tripoli, who with Al Ittihad had dominated the previous domestic competitions, took part in, and won an international Tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

The Libyan General Football Federation has set the date of October 20 for the commencement of the Libyan football league (2012-2013) that was suspended 20 months ago, in February 2011 with the launching of the February 17 Revolution. The championship has been given the name of Liberation League.

In his fourth and most probably his final appearance after four participations in an Olympic Games, Libya's marathon runner Ali Mabrouk El Zaidi Sunday failed to last the pace and was among the 20 athletes who failed to finish the 42.915km long-distance running event, the Marathon held in the streets of London and won by Uganda's Stephen Kiprotich, who therefore claimed the gold medal, after finishing in 2:08:01.
