Political Punchlines

One of the upsides to campaign season is the great material it provides our late night comedians. Check out the graph below to see which candidates they’re joking about the most, and scroll down for the best punchlines.

Barack Obama

Well, folks, it is day two of the Democratic convention and -- oh, this is interesting. Apparently they had a huge lighting problem in the convention hall today. They worked all day on it. They still couldn't get President Obama out of Bill Clinton's shadow.

Conan O'Brien

The figures are in and Michelle Obama's convention speech got higher ratings than Ann Romney's. And tonight, tonight the Democrats are aiming even higher when President Obama is introduced by new DNC chair Honey Boo-Boo.

By now, I presume you are aware there is a presidential election coming up. Things are really starting to come together. Last week, Obama called his opponent "Romney-hood." And Romney told Obama to take his campaign of anger and hate back to school… And then, for good measure, Obama brought up the Romney-putting-the-dog-on-top-of-the-car thing again. So, we are finally starting to tackle the big issues.

Mitt Romney

I got some bad economic news. The United States has slipped down the global rankings of the most competitive economy. We're now seventh… Switzerland is number one. To which Mitt Romney said, "See? That's why I keep my money there.”

Conan O'Brien

There is a new Republican ad that just came out… [It] shows a young woman breaking up with a cardboard cutout of President Obama. The ad ends with her choosing a cardboard cutout of Mitt Romney which turns out to actually be Mitt Romney.

Now an anonymous group of hackers is claiming that last month they broke into the accounting firm where Romney's financial records are stored… It sounds like a plot to a boring movie. The hackers are threatening to release the returns unless Romney pays them a million dollars. I would ask for more… I would rather see his web browser history. I think we'd learn a lot more.
