FAQ’s

What are the beta homepages?

As part of the changes to BBC Radio online, we’re testing some new designs and features for our homepages. We hope these beta, or test, pages will make it easier for audiences to find the content they want, and they allow us to get audience feedback before a full product launch.

Why have you made these changes?

As announced in January 2011, BBC Online is being redefined into one cohesive service, split by ten distinct products, delivered across four screens. The Radio and Music Product is one of these ten products.

What is the Radio and Music Product?

The Radio and Music Product will be the one stop shop for listening to live and on demand radio from the BBC on all digital devices. It will bring all BBC Radio together in one place, available on all mobile, tablets, desktop computers, digital radio and digital TV. The first version of the new product will launch later in 2012.

Why aren’t Radio 1 and 1Xtra part of this beta?

Radio 1 and 1Xtra homepages were updated in 2011 with dynamic, social and visual features tailored to the demands of the audiences for those two stations. We will be testing out how these features work for other stations before integrating these homepages fully into the Radio and Music Product.
