National Day greetings sent
HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani have sent congratulatory cables to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, and presidents of Venezuela and Cape Verde on their country’s National Day.

Armed forces chief holds talks
HE the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah, yesterday held separate talks with Defence Minister at the Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC), Dr Jalal Mohamed Mansur el-Digheily,  Commander of the French Forces in the Indian Ocean, Admiral Marin Gillier, and Middle East Adviser at the British Ministry of Defence Simon Mayall.
Means of enhancing bilateral relations and military co-operation  were discussed during the meetings.
The meeting with Middle East Adviser at the British Ministry of Defence Simon Mayall was attended by UK Ambassador to Qatar John Hawkins and Defence Attache in Doha Commander Michael Palmer. A number of the Armed Forces senior officers also attended the meetings.

Real estate transactions
Real estate transactions between June 26 and 30 for the real estate sales contracts registered at the Ministry of Justice are worth QR503,245,492, the real estate registration department at the Ministry said in its weekly report. The list of properties that were traded either by sale or mortgage includes open plots of land, two-floor villas, annex, houses and residential buildings which are located in the municipalities of Umm Salal, Doha, Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Al Shamal, Al Daayen and Al Wakrah.

‘Trio behind murder’ of Bangladeshi
At least three persons were reportedly involved in the murder of a Bangladeshi man that was reported from the Musheireb on Monday afternoon, sources yesterday said.
Of them one was said to be the victim’s own brother.
Police have said investigation into the murder is on and they are on the look out for the assailants, who they said would be nabbed shortly. However, they did not confirm if anyone was already taken into custody or not.
The victim was said to be in his mid-30s, according to Bangladeshi community sources.

Expatriate dies in road accident
Indian expatriate and Qatar Petroleum employee Bernard Shingare (48) died in a road accident on Sunday while on duty.
A native of Mumbai, Shingare’s car was hit by a truck on Abu Samra road, community sources said yesterday.
Shingare was with Qatar Petroleum for the last two decades. He is survived by his wife Deena, who is from Mangalore, and their daughter Vanessa.
Prayers will be offered in memory of Shingare today at Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church at 6.45pm.
