Artists, Scientists and Policy Experts Talk 'Power' at Inaugural TEDx Event

Oct. 1, 2012 – TEDx Georgetown kicked off its inaugural event on Sept. 28 in Lohrfink Auditorium with 16 speakers holding expertise in the areas of international affairs, science, arts, journalism and more.

Each speaker focused on varying aspects of power – the power of helping others, the power of music, the power of resilience.

Chinese dissident Wei Jingsheng, award-winning journalist and author Maureen Orth and award-winning violinist Tai Murray were among the speakers.

Five members of the Georgetown community –  physics professor Daniel Blair, School of Foreign Service professor Cynthia Schneider and students Caspian Tavallali (SFS’14), Chase Meacham (C’14) and Kendall Ciesemier (C’15) – also joined the lineup.
