With more than 40 journalists killed in Mexico since 2006, being a journalist is very dangerous, particularly one undeterred by cartels. "Reportero" follows Sergio Haro, a journalist for the independent paper Zeta
in Tijuana, which reports on cartel-related murders and corrupt politicians. As noted by the Woodrow Wilson Center's event description
, "The film's fundamental question is, as the drug war intensifies and the risks to journalists become greater, will the free press be silenced?"
