Sean Gallagher's picture

Sean Gallagher is a British photographer and videographer, based in China. Graduating in Zoology from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England, he subsequently changed career direction into photography as a way to document his concerns about global environmental issues.  To date he has lived and worked across the world, spending extended periods of time in locations as diverse as Japan, Brazil, China, the United Arab Emirates and various European nations.

His work specializes on reporting social and environmental issues in Asia, with specific emphasis on China. He is a two-time Pulitzer Center Travel Grant Recipient and he was the first recipient of the David Alan Harvey Fund for Emerging Photographers in 2008. His work on environmental issues in China was acknowledged as "some of the most striking images on display at [the] Copenhagen climate change conference”, by the BBC World Service . His work has been published internationally, in print and online, in leading publications, and exhibited worldwide.
