Q: How can I prevent my child from viewing the content on the site?
A: The MSN UK site is designed for those over 13. As always parents should put in place the appropriate controls on their computer for their children. Both Windows and Internet Explorer products have these capabilities and instructions on how to use them can be found here for Window's operating system:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/features/parental-controls.aspx
And for Internet Explorer browser:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-Internet-Explorer-Content-settings
We encourage any parents or guardians that wish to restrict access to the site to do so by using the parental controls available to them. For more information online safety for children and parental controls please see:

In addition to utilising Windows and Interet Explorer's parental controls, MSN Video Player offers age-gating functionality. When you attempt to view a video on MSN Video Player and that video contains a parental guidance warning, you will be asked to provide your date of birth. If this shows you are younger than the video requires, then the video will show as not available.
Q: How does the age-gating function work?
A:When visiting the MSN Video Player for the first time, users are asked to provide their date of birth. If the viewer's given age is younger than a video requires, then such videos will not be available for viewing. If you verify your age when viewing Flash videos, and then go to view a video in Silverlight, you may find that you are asked to verify your age once for each application. Once verified for both, you should not be asked again.
Q: I'm unable to see the programme guidance. Where is it?
A: Guidance is provided before content is viewed in the information panel near the thumbnail or player, as well as warnings at the beginning of every programme where recommended by the content owners and providers. Unlike other video on demand platforms in the UK, the MSN Video Player is targeted at adults, over 18s.
Q: What are the terms and conditions for MSN Video Player?
A: The terms and conditions for MSN Video Player can be found here, the Microsoft Service Agreement.
Q: When I try to play a video I get a message that says 'We're sorry, this video cannot be played from your current location'
A: Unfortunately our license agreements prevent us from streaming video in MSN Video Player outside the UK. Prior to the video being played, we will attempt to determine where your computer is located via your IP address.
If you think you are running a UK IP address, please let us know via the Feedback link at the bottom of any page on MSN Video Player.
Q: I'm unable to watch a video from my location, and I am in the UK. Why?
A: The issue may be connected to how your ISP routes your IP address. Please re-install both Silverlight and Flash plug-ins. If you are still unable to watch videos please contact your Internet Service Provider for support.
